Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #3. RN. Arabian (and Azanian) Sea.

In both the Arabian and Azanian Sea the RN is only able to replace 1 of 4 CPs in each sea area either sunk (3 CPs) or forced to abort (5 CPs). This means that 3 CW factories, for now, have gone idle because of this.

In the Azanian sea the IJN I-boat that caused all the trouble was damage, however, in the Arabian Sea the offending Japanese I-boat is still there. So, the RN sends in one of their heavy cruisers to provide some ASW in the Arabian Sea.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #3. RN. Arctic Ocean.

In the Arctic Ocean the RN moves a second CP to the area and three ship escorts. Two of the escorts are RN aircraft carriers minus the aircraft which still have significant ASW capability.

The RN elects not to try to initiate a combat, however, the Germans try but fail to do so.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #3. WEST. North Atlantic.

In the North Atlantic the RN and USN beef up their ASW patrols. Of course they elect not to try to initiate a combat. However, the Germans do try but fail.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #3. Western Allies. Italian Coast.

Off the Italian Coast both the CW and USA bring in a number of loaded transports and amphibious units. Both the RN and USN do follow the golden rule of thumb and choose not to try to initiate a naval combat even through they heavily outnumber the axis in the sea area.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #3. Italy. Italian Coast. Round 1.

The Italians do elect to try to initiate a naval combat and are successful. For their trouble the Italians lose a fighter unit but the RN loses a carrier plane unit.

The battle ends after one round when neither side is able to find the other.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Axis #5. Weather.

The storms in the North Temperate lessen a bit to rain and the rain in the South Monsoon ends (i.e., turns to fair). Other than that, the bad weather in most of the combat zones continue.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Axis #5. Japan. China.

No land combat by Japan anywhere this impulse.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Axis #5. Japan. Strategic Bombing. Chungking, China.

Though Japan did carry out a successful strategic bombing raid on Chungking, China, reducing Chinese production by 20%.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Axis #5. Japan. Philippines.

And with MacArthur's failure to take Manila, Japan has reinforced to the max and now has three Japanese units in the city. Manila, and the Philippines are now a tough nut to crack. All because of two missed good opportunities to take the city. Oh well, such is war.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Axis #5. Italy. Desert Army.

Italy's desert army remains out of supply with no real prospect of getting supplies. The question is when are the allies going to devote the time and resources to retake Egypt and regain control of the Suez Canal, not to mention the Middle Eastern Oil Fields further to the East?

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Axis #5. Germany. The Italian Front.

No land combat by the Germans this impulse too.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (6/5/2016 2:35:52 AM)

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Axis #5. Germany. The Eastern Front, South.

Hitler has forbidden any withdraws or retreats under any circumstances by German forces in Russia. What you're seeing by the Wehrmacht in Southern Russia is neither of those. Hitler's Generals are calling their "pull back" a strategic re-positioning of forces for better defense. [;)]

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (6/5/2016 4:01:29 AM)

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #7. RN. Arabian Sea.

No attempt to initiate combat. All 4 CPs lost or aborted on the first impulse this turn have been replaced in the Arabian Sea. In the Azanian Sea, 3 of the 4 lost or aborted were replaced. That'll have to due for now and until the allies can get more CPs to this area.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (6/5/2016 4:09:05 AM)

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #7. RN. East Indian. Naval Surface Battle. Round 1.

The allies were hoping to force the IJN battleship out of the area but could only manage a "1/2 abort". On the up side, the USN battleship, which would have to leave at the end of the turn because it's in box 0, was only forced to abort.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (6/5/2016 4:11:41 AM)

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #7. RN. The Italian Coast.

No contact. Again, by trying to initiate a naval combat the RN went against the golden rule for sea areas with loaded transports and amphibious units.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #7. Western Allies. Ground Strike.

A partially successful ground strike. However, the Western Allies wouldn't be able to get decent enough odds to attempt a land combat anywhere this impulse.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (6/5/2016 4:14:40 AM)

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #7. Western Allies. Italy. Balkans.

The US and CW did make use of rail and disembarkation to build up their forces in Italy and in the Balkans. Note that Eisenhower, armor corps and a strong infantry corps were railed into Yugoslavia and are good position next turn to push into Hungary.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (6/5/2016 4:16:06 AM)

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #7. USSR. Ground Strike 1.

A miscalculation by the Soviet, Red Air Force. They thought they'd have fighter cover but they didn't and it cost them dearly.

Turn 25. Sep/Oct 1943. Allied #7. USSR. Land Combat.

The Soviets are able to destroy von Bock's HQ but at a cost.
