BKL -> [NEED SAVEGAME] Weapon Out of Boresight Limits - What do I do? (2/29/2016 12:33:47 AM)

I have an aircraft I want to attack a ship. Weapon database says target type as "ship." I launch the aircraft and then ask it to automatically attach ship. The aircraft will go on "Engaged Offensive" then never does anything. When I try to attack manually, it says "weapon outside of boresight limits."

What do I do, or what am I missing?

Maneuver so that it's within boresight limits [:D]

Also, attach a savefile so that people don't have to wonder which of the thousands of missile-plane combinations is acting weird.

I understand that I can manually maneuver the aircraft, but I'm wondering why the AI wouldn't do it automatically if I'm able to do it, when I ask it to engage target automatically. By the way, the weapon I'm referring to is the #364 - AJ. 168 Martel used in Beware of Badger (Northern Inferno) for the Buccaneer S.2D. Thanks. BKL

^ ^ what he said. Without a save game to see the problem we are grasping at straws as there are so many variables (plane-missile type, doctrine settings etc)

With a save showing the issue we can quickly investigate and help

Make sure your aircraft is flying at an altitude within the launch altitude window on the weapon's page. Manual altitude has caused me plenty of failed launches. Make sure your aircraft is pointed at the target.

But yeah, a save will help.

Savegame....?

Ok folks I don't know about @BKL's specific problem but I think mine is very similar.

This is the vanilla base version of the game, with Tutorial Strike 3, I can't seem to get my KAB bombs to launch. Target is always outside weapon boresight limits. Here's what I tried :
- Strike mission
- Auto-engage
- Manual engagement
- Change altitude
- Enforce weapon release zone (actually it's a different error if not in launch window, so that part is readable)
- Enforce final dive manually (from 15000ft AGL to 10000ft AGL)
- Manually pilot aircraft for a perfectly aligned run
- Change WRA to override defaults (also a different error, but I was getting desperate)

Savegame attached.

This is starting to mildly bug me, as the KAB seem to me to be the most potent weapon available in this scenario. Any help solving this issue would be much appreciated.

Hi Hawkspur, are you using the most recent release?

There was a bug a little while back which prevented LGBs and EOGBs from functioning properly, and they would always give the weapon outside of boresight error. I believe it was addressed in the recent updates.

Hello,

I had the same issue recently. I use the Steam version of the game which always seems to be about 5 versions behind in terms of the patches it auto applies.

Try manually applying the latest "beta" patch available on the forums here.

Hello all, and thanks for the quick reply,

I use the Steam version of the game too. My App ID is 1076160 & build ID is 7602861. I have no idea how to do a manual update, and it's unfortunate the steam version isn't up to date...
