RobPollard -> Writing an Ancient Battles Simulator! (2/29/2016 2:54:33 PM)

Hi Folks,

Whilst playing far too much Tigers on the Hunt, I'm also writing an Ancient Battle simulator called Ancient Armies.

It has a fair ways to go, but at least it keeps me off the streets.

For more info pop over to:

Any feedback would be cool - coding and designing alone can lead to irrational decisions! [:D]

Rob, it looks impressive, I look forward to seeing the evolution of the Simulator! [:)] I would have an option for the non-metric standard of measurement (if you haven't already) for us "Across the Pond" devotees. [;)]

Thanks Patrick. I will add a non-metric option to the project's JIRA list. There is conversion code lurking under the hood, but so far it has been used to convert imperial map overlays to metric. It shouldn't be too much hassle to leverage this functionality to provide additional options :)

Now I will have to wait for a WW2 platoon level conversion of your simulation.

I like the concept, but that could be a long way away :)

I quite like your approach to what you are doing. I am not much of an ancients fan but I like to follow new concepts. Proper and logical LOS is one of the most difficult aspects to achieve when there is so much clutter in the surrounding environment. I will be very interested to see how your game evolves.

Thank you for posting here and good luck with your work.

Yes Rob, please keep us posted here on your progress and updates...thanks! [:)]
