Hermann -> Hint for new Players. (3/1/2016 4:29:10 PM)

I've noticed a lot of players like to place the Russian Air Force in reserve Turn 1 and I've seen it on many of these tutorials - Don't fall for it. However using the Russian Air Force isn't a random Act. Set your combat reports to level 5 or 6 and actually look at what's happening. Even if you don't successfully kill enemy units or planes you disrupt them or in the case of planes damage them at a rate of 2 to 1. Most German players fail to set up night fighters. As a Russian player Start your turn by doing your aerial reconnaissance. Be thorough, a lot of players try to sneek tanks around, knowing where an attack is coming from is critical to successfully defending - don't neglect recon but make sure you don't use fighter escort unless you want losses. When attacking enemy airfields and units you're limited to 3 attacks - that means you need to be careful with what you have automated airfield attacks can be easier if you don't like killing stuff but your best option is attacking individual airfields. After recon set all your air units to night missions choose your target and launch the attack using the shift key. This gives you the option of launching all available aircraft at once on the target. You only get 3 attacks so attack with 200 planes each time rather than 2 for optimum results. Each kill usually means 2 damaged planes. Using this method you can average 40 killed and 80 damaged enemy planes per turn from the outset. the germans have 3000 planes so killing 400 and damaging 800 has enormous impact by turn 10. Combat units don't fly unless theyre up to strength itll save you enormous losses, prevent interdiction and allow your larger airforce a chance to gain superiority in combat. Attacking ground troops averages 60 killed and 120 damaged in a large scale attack - focus on stacks of units. 3 or more units in a hex gives a larger density and causes more casualties to the enemy. Remember to reset your aircraft to day missions afterwards. Unfortunately the designers haven't created a select button for night bombers so you really cant use those as theyre meant to be used at this point. watch your losses - if the germans start setting night fighters you need to back off a bit but still that achieves a result as they have less in the day. Keep transports and recon in your vvs units. Always have these transports on night missions to supply partisans and keep these units as close as you can to the front lines so they supply deep. Re,e,ber you cant attack very well on land so use your time to smash them by air. Prior to attacking enemy units always prep forted units with air attacks using this method - any disrupted troops add to your chance of success. Don't give up on pockets - having an HQ in a pocket is best getting rid of excess hqs by relocating them allows you to assign all pocketed forces to single HQ. Supply that HQ only not indivual units - again using the shift key to select the HQ if its stacked - itll distribute the supply where its needed. Supplied units in a pocket need retreat room so maintain your perimeters at all costs and allow yourself room to retreat rather than surrender. A pocket battle is very fun - don't neglect it accept the challenge and fight like hell. Make sure you place a good commander in the pocket - admin and infantry skills are best make the enemy pay for every inch. You cant do this without your air force - the WiTe air system is extremely fun don't neglect it.

KUDOS... might work for me, too.

Anything else to say?
