Rhonda;

Both of my parents did hospice and that organization is incredible. The people involved are the nicest you could ask for. They are about making you comfortable without worry. I broke my neck in 1984 and have been an incomplete quad for this time. Pain stinks and I know first hand, and they will do all they can to help that part. Hospice impressed my entire family daily. I have been praying for you since I saw this thread and I will continue to do so. Talk to Jesus, the Son of God and He will comfort you. He sure has comforted me many times.

Larry.

I'll be at home tomorrow meeting with the Hospice people. I've decided to go for the quality of life option. The Oncologists don't seem interested in my case because of the Diabetes which rules me out. The Kidney on the right has a tumor that is 23 centimeters. It doesn't get much worse. I only have basic Medicare so it could probably bankrupt the family. Hospice care in 100% paid for. I stay in my apartment and have nursing help and housekeeping and lots of other assistance. Val has to leave for Guam Friday... she will handle things from Guam. If a good alternative materializes we'll consider. I can switch back and forth in and out of the program if I try treatment. I'll be all set up.

I'm tired so this will be it for this evening. I'll share tonights letter in the Cancer thread,

This is honestly not any attempt to derail this thread, but I find it so upsetting and hard to read that money is even the slightest worry for you at this time. My thoughts are with you and your family. I truly hope that there is a way for you to fight this evil illness that causes so much unhappiness.

Do you have Skype? My niece took a semester in Argentina, and the family found it an excellent way to keep in touch. (And her Spanish fluency is now amazing.)

Mind you, there is a nasty time difference with Guam.

Fell and broke my right femur and am in Pacific Rehab at Noblesville, Indiana. Should be a couple ofweeks before I go home to the aapartment my kids seem up for me. We are constantly working on the brain cancer to keep me sane and rational.I am good right now but meds are adjusted constantly. We are only working to maintain quality of life and hospice care. No chemo or radiation. My cancer is terminal no idea how long I have. Just glad to have this time with the grandchildren :)

I am content :) will write as I can... promise

Love you all!

Bad news after bad news. You have all our sympathy and support.

Zap -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/12/2016 3:34:07 AM)

Oh. that's not good. You want mobility as much as possible (hope the recovery time from the fall is short). Do you think the drugs could have effected your balance? Were with you.

Thanks for the update Rhonda - sad though it is. You remain in my prayers. Stay strong.

Terrible news about your femur.
Still encouraging to see that you still have a positive outlook on your situation and that we are spending quality time with your grandchildren. That is someting that will alwasy remain with them, the time spent with them and your family not regretting spending the time with you.
It has finally sunk in that your illnes is terminal, I was hoping that you might be able to get cured of your cancer. I am often lost for words to express my feelings.
Reading your last post made me respond. I enjoyed your comments here in the forums. Always polite and friendly. I was always impressed on the , to me, hard life you wanted with your farm. But I am convinced you would have wanted it no other way.
I know I am rambling on, but I just want you to know that we do follow your posts and are happy from every comment you post here. Be it short or long.

Mathew

m10bob -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/12/2016 4:38:58 PM)

Rhonda...I too am in Indy...I was diagnosed with Neuroendicrine Carcinoma in 2013, stage 3b and inoperable..Throat and both lungs and "30 to 40" lymph nodes,(quoting the Dr.).
Of course when he said "inoperable", I thought the reaper had finally caught up...but without batting an eye he then said "So, we are going to start radiation daily to burn it out, (as you know).

Well...they did burn it out, and while I only have 35% of my lungs remaining, I still have a quality of life, and of course still get regular CT scans and I see my Oncologist this Friday.

As far as I am concerned, that Canadian gentleman is a true miracle worker.

He is Dr Peter Garrett at St Francis, Indy campus,(Stop 11) just off south I 65 by Greenwood.

I'm just convinced its' not over till HE is ready for us, and I hope HE is not ready for you yet.

If I can help you, PM me and I will contact you....Bob

P.S...Regardless of age you are fully qualified for social security disability and they can help with the costs.

Hello Rhonda,

I'm not on here as often as the others, but glad to hear you are still fighting on. Shame about the ranch, but I hope you do have as much time with the loved ones as possible.

IainMcNeil -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/13/2016 11:28:52 AM)

So sad to hear your news Rhonda. Take care and we're thinking of you.

GaryChildress -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/17/2016 4:45:37 PM)

Bump...  Any more news, Rhonda? It's always good to hear from you, when you feel up to writing. Anyway, hope you are comfortable and free from any pain.

m10bob -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/20/2016 2:18:16 PM)

I live in the area Rhonda last reported from..I called several places yesterday, cannot locate her.

Must be aware of her privacy considerations but if she checks in she will know we sure care about her.

rhondabrwn -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/22/2016 7:26:04 AM)

Still in rehabilitation at Prairie Village facility in at Noblesville IN. About ready to pull me and take me home. Can walk with difficulty and a walker for support. Full rehabilitation could take longer than I have left to live. Prefer to spend it with family not therapists.

berto -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/22/2016 7:29:31 AM)

Peace be with you, Rhonda.

That is the best thing you can do, the time spent with the family is something that will create fond and also sad memories that will remain for a very long time. But more than often a smile will be the memory that lingers the most and the longest.

Take care of yourself and remain as strong as you can, for as long as possible.

Mat

Well said, Mat. I wish to convey the same message but, alas, I can not find the words to do so.

Do take care Rhondalynn and do remain as strong as you can, for as long as possible.

rhondabrwn -> RE: Rhondalynn's Cancer Thread (4/23/2016 10:59:59 PM)

Realizing how weak I am overall. I've gotten some real arm strength developed, but in general am kinda weak and wobbly just to stand and walk around. THree weeks confined to a wheel chair does that to you.

Taking great care not to push things and get into trouble.

I cannot afford another injury from a bump or fall.

Working on software updates this afternoon.
