Dide -> [WAD] AIP? (3/30/2016 7:57:33 PM)

Hi. After installing the latest version RC7-B808, I noticed that the Italian and German submarines U-212A
no longer use the AIP propulsion regardless of ASW doctrine, causing strange behavior, the rise to
periscope depth etc ... I attach simple example.
Thank you.

is this using a recent dB?

I have tried your scenario (DB442 btw), they do use AIP! You run them at flank speed though, that depletes the batteries quicker than the AIP can reload them (the engine only uses the batteries for power-supply).

Hmmm not sure if I understood what the issue was...

You've given both subs a plotted course, periscope depth, and max speed. The diesels recharge the battery which then drives the propeller shafts. The diesels aren't able to keep up with the drainage, and eventually the batteries run out.

When empty, the subs automatically switch to Creep throttle. Recharge of the batteries starts.

When the batteries are recharged, the subs switch to cruise speed. The sub that isn't allowed to use AIP only drains the battery, while the one that _is_ allowed, drains both the battery and AIP. The AIP cannot keep up with the drainage at cruise speed (only at creep) so thus it drains both. PS: AIP is not used at periscope depth, yes our AI is actually pretty smart [;)]

The behaviour I see is by exactly as designed [8D]

If there is anything wrong, please provide details.

Thanks!

Is that a real-life SOP? I mean even if it would just be hovering at PD, all the electronic and other equipment alone needs a ton of power, I wonder how long the batteries would survive without AIP. Does anybody have a good estimate?

Now I've got it, thanks for the explanation [:)]

^ You have a weird humour, I like that :)

I did some tests on ASW doctrine and I must say that I understand the
operation (I'm a little slow)[8|]. It could, however, highlight the written AIP (when in use),
as is the case for diesel and battery? (located in the unit fuel menu). It would help you understand when the system is in operation). Thanks for the patience [:)]
