Emperor0Akim -> The Maintenance Reduction Skills (4/24/2016 9:42:17 PM)

Hello There,

I searched the ups and downs of the forums and the Interwebs and have to
say again, I am so happy to finally have found another game that satisfies
my Space Empires IV and V withdrawel.

But after having gotten a few generals, govenors and admirals with Troop and Ship Maintenance Reductions Skills.

But I never felt it worked.
In the Troops Tab the Maintenance Cost always staid the same, regardless of where the Troops where, of where the Charakter with the reduction skill was, even with the skill on my Empires Leader nothing seemed to happen.

So am I reading something wrong or is the skill bugged ?

It could be bugged, I do not know, but did you check the economy details? It is hard to do in a large empire, but I assume the troop cost should add up to the sum of your troops, and could reflect the savings.

Not yet, but I think I am going to try it in my current game.

Yeah Okay. It seems to work.

My Emperor got the Troop reduction skill of 21%
I cranked out 20 Troops on my Homeworld and 20 on my second biggest colony.
With actual Troop cost of 810 this sums up to 32400 of Maintenance cost.
The Empire overview and the Troop overview ( I never noticed the small sum on top of the list :) ) showed a combined cost of 26k

so 32000 x 0.79 = 25596 or 26k

then I made a troop general with 50% reduction skill and the maintenance cost rose from 26k to 27k which is kind of weird.
I am looking into it right now

Going on. When I transferred the general to the second planet with troops the maintenance sunk to 22k which seems about right.
This value staid right even when I tranferred him back to the first troop world, which has also the emperor on it.

When I transferred him away to a planet without troops, the maintenance costs rose up to 27k again.

So I think the skill works as intended :)

Thanks for the nudge to test it myself.

--- Edit ----
It also made me finally understandt the universe editor and I learned how to rename my homesystem :)
