game works straight out the box with the alteration shown above and nothing else needed, in full screen and all that's needed is already with the game, supports a good number of screen sizes and my default is 1920x1080, only thing that needs doing to make 100% windows 10 home or pro compatible is following above, no other settings need altering or changing[&o]

It's just the last level Palace that doesn't save with error messages that say bad allocation etc..after crashing to windows

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 4:15:51 PM)

bad allocation can mean one of 3 things,

lack of space eg hard drive, either virtual or hard disk wise, or even a block writing error

lack of memory, same again, page file memory or main memory

or the file being wrote goes over a given size

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 4:17:27 PM)

a report will give a better idea on hardware etc, but not what's running at the time of the crash

How to get a DirectX Diagnostic file:

1. click on "START"
2. click "run"
3. type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice

We prefer that DxDiag files be posted as message attachments rather than pasted into the body of the post.

once the report has been made, just attach it to your post with first adding the file to a zip, which is then permitted to attach to the forum

only a screenshot of the boot will do this, the cleaner the better is better for gaming

Telebit -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 4:32:44 PM)

No option for attaching/

Telebit -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 4:35:22 PM)

Here it is.

Telebit -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 4:50:49 PM)

Yep it seems to have something to do with the Palace level.

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 5:36:51 PM)

MSVCR71.dll crash error is a .net error

maybe something, maybe not, but windows 10 has all the files needed, but not always loaded, so try some of these and retry the save

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 5:37:30 PM)

all these files are with windows 10, but not loaded by default

[image]local://upfiles/43185/FDDB3E2717F54C0AA1A97DDE032CE9D9.jpg[/image]

the game will have a .net version, it will need installing with the game, even if you have a new version, as you can see on my test pc, i have almost all of them, as each game needs a different version, if the game is a 32bit game, i still load the 64bit files as i have a 64bit o/s, so it's always 32bit first, then and only then, the 64bit version

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 5:39:37 PM)

all drivers need to be up to date

[image]local://upfiles/43185/0D2C1456ECA24F889AEF0A60370199C7.jpg[/image]

some like sound and vga more than others, but main chipset is always a good start as well

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 5:41:14 PM)

some games need older codec, again there in windows 10, but not loaded by default install

[image]local://upfiles/43185/D9207E47957443D6A6F03927D967795A.jpg[/image]

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 5:42:07 PM)

sometimes it's good to load others as well, just for backward compatibility

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 5:43:35 PM)

some windows 10 bits, can and do stop certain older games from working or working correctly at all, so disabling them, as most users don't use them anyway

[image]local://upfiles/43185/F94E2DFE9B174846947FABC2EBBCAEDD.jpg[/image]

makes running older games more fun and more stable

Telebit -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 5:46:34 PM)

Hmmm.[;)]

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/27/2018 6:19:41 PM)

while you already got a save, won't take too long to test it, just make sure your start up profile is a few files as shown in my screen shot of ccleaner above etc, as background apps and programs all take up space and resources etc, and can cause conflicts, so less is better than more

Telebit -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/28/2018 1:01:16 PM)

No the exit autosave crashes to desktop. Yesterday the quick save worked and so did the manual save.

zakblood -> RE: windows 10 compatibility testing (7/28/2018 1:26:20 PM)

so did you get past the final bit or not? as if not then it's a game ender for sure,

as you can always upload the save here in zip format so others can see or check, as i'm sure the mod at least from the development team is still around and may have more insight on it etc
