I am playing the game "Over the Canal" as the Russians and the units won't move across the bridge. Not sure if there is a special rule for bridge movement or whether its a glitch???

Gerry4321 -> RE: Over the Canal (5/2/2016 3:58:58 AM)

I just tried it and it works for me. I am sure you are trying to enter from a road hexside?

DoubleDeuce -> RE: Over the Canal (5/2/2016 5:34:16 AM)

I tested it too and its working for me. I tried both vehicles and squads.

Thanks. Still no luck on my end. It may be something I am missing but my units are lined up on the road, its the Russian movement segment, they haven't fired and yet I can't seem to move across the bridge. Does bridge movement eat up a lot of movement points? Maybe entering the first bridge hex from the road? I will keep trying.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: Over the Canal (5/2/2016 2:33:54 PM)

There is a stacking limit so if you have a bunch of units stacked up at the head of the bridge, the ones behind will not show movement hexes available through that blocking' stack. And the bridge hexes should be normal move points along the direction of the bridge.

UP844 -> RE: Over the Canal (5/2/2016 2:57:18 PM)

Everything works fine for me (see picture), but I think I have discovered a small bug: while infantry may only enter the bridge hex through a land hexside (green arrow), AFVs may enter from adjacent river bank hexes even if there is a water hexside in between (when the two AFV are selected, the hexes indicated by red arrows are shown as available destinations during the movement phase).

I am not aware of any stacking limit on the bridge: the Russian stack sitting on the VP hex at the end of the bridge consists of a Leader, 1 HS and 2 squads, and they all crossed the bridge together (after having made sure there are no pesky Germans who may fire on the bridge [:)])

I also had no problems as the Russians crossing the bridge .
UP844`s screenshot with the movement arrows and the commentary really help to understand his take on the situation .
Unsure if there is a quick and easy way to do it , but if not maybe that could be a feature request ?

kolc -> RE: Over the Canal (5/2/2016 5:12:16 PM)

It is strange because the Russians can move on the bridge during the advance segment. I have loaded a mod, I will check to see if it could possibly be something with the mod.

OOC?
are you playing hard or very hard?
If so try it on normal , you then have full control of your units , if they still won`t cross then I`m out of ideas :)

kolc -> RE: Over the Canal (5/2/2016 11:21:08 PM)

Ok tried on normal...still having same problem. I will have to see if it could be the mod or something. Since it seems I am the only one experiencing this it seems to be something primarily on my end. Thanks for the help and tips.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: Over the Canal (5/3/2016 5:39:04 AM)

You may be past that point but if you have a save file and upload it to this thread I can check it with the mods I am currently using.

kolc -> RE: Over the Canal (5/3/2016 11:30:53 AM)

Thanks. Here is the game file.

UP844 -> RE: Over the Canal (5/3/2016 12:36:02 PM)

I loaded the saved file and I had no problem at all moving the Russian units over the bridge. I run TotH with no mod at all, but I don't think it matters at all.

I know it's a silly advice, but make sure you have actually selected the moving unit.

Yeah, no problems here either.
