I'm considering buying this and a quick perusal of the forum indicates the game had/has some problems.

How is it now? Have the problems been fixed and would you recommend a purchase?

Thanks for any replies.

It is good, more so if you play as France or PBEM. I used to get CTDs but I think on most systems they are easily fixed. Mine are. Good, captivating Napoleonic game, much more in depth than Victory and Glory, the other Napoleonic game released from Matrix. Much more intelligent and engrossing game.

Hi
I do not recommend a purchase!
There are still issues BUT when these are fixed the game will be awesome.

Buy it. Worth your time and money.

I wouldnt get it. Its a good game thats hidden behind a broken, buggy and clunky engine

My advice: wait and watch the AGEOD site. When you see people actually talking about the game - strategies and AARs - instead of crashes, bugs and home-made scripts and mods to work around crashes and bugs - then consider buying the game. At the moment, both this site and the AGEOD site have very little chatter about actual gameplay, which is a sure sign of a game that's not much fun to play.

I want Wars of Napoleon. But...

I normally buy Matrix/Slitherine games from Matrix but always check the forums here and on STEAM if it's being offered there to get a feel for what's going on.

It's being trashed on STEAM - big time. Not for gameplay but for game crashes.

For a game that's been out for over 4 months one has to wonder why the crash issues haven't been resolved especially since that's pretty much all the complainers are complaining about.

STEAM is pretty negative place so I'm here in order to get Matrix players' take on what's up? I don't see any we're working on it responses in the tech forum just uninstall and reinstall in a place other than the default responses. Saw a couple of "it was fixed and now it's broken again posts".

That said - the system as described seems to be the same game engine as Civil War 2 which is rock stable on my system - if that is the case what about those of you who have and play CW2 - do you get crashes on WON?

Thank you all for the responses.

I've read several reviews, a lot of this forum and reviews on Steam, and I'm going to leave it. I really want a Napoleonic grand strategy game but I'll wait until this one is fixed.

From what I can glean even the Steam release has issues and the days are gone when I'm going to spend time making a (war)game run on my top of the range PC. It's 2016 and I expect them to run "out of the box" so to speak.

Thanks again, guys and girls.

You made a wise choice. What intrigues me, however, is that I played the game for hours for my review and never had a crash.
