WBailey -> Package scenario for distribution hang (5/13/2016 11:09:01 AM)

I am trying to make a new scenario and include with it overlays that automatically load on start up with the scenario attachment system. When I add the overlays as attachments and click package scenario for distribution Command creates a 0 byte zip file and then hangs forever. I just made a test scenario and although it adds some stuff to the zip file (perhaps the comma in my real scenario is also a problem?) Command still hangs and also the name of some of the files are incorrect (the scenario file name is shortened somehow).

Am I missing a step? I couldn't find anyone discussing this feature outside of the blog post introducing it, so perhaps an update broke it at some point?

Steps to reproduce:
0. Extract zip to Command Modern Air Naval Operations\Scenarios
1. Load example scenario in the editor
2. Click editor -> package scenario for distribution
3. Input a zip file name
4. Command hangs without becoming unresponsive according to Windows (all input causes an error noise)
The error noise is similar to when clicking on another part of a program while a dialog box that does not allow this is open.

Thanks!
P.S. Bonus points if you can guess what my scenario is about from the included overlay

Tired a few times and it worked okay for me. Using latest build??

Put the files in to its own directory before packaging. And create a Attachment sub-directory and copy the attachments to it.
The attachments should under a GUID type directory as in the zip

Hm, maybe it is something specific to my install. After 1.11 came out I deleted and reinstalled. Running Windows 10 64 bit, is there a way for me to generate better logs that might shed some light? I took a look at the ones in the Logs folder and they contained nothing relevant.

The zip worked but it did not have the actual attachments. I removed the attachment thru the Editor, and add the attachment again. This time the packaging worked - the zip has a GUID directory with the attachments. This GUID directory is moved to the AttachmentRepo directory when the scenario is loaded.

Walkthrough:
1. Load scenario
2. Go into Scenario Attachments via Editor
3. Remove the old attachment
4. Click on Create new.. and select the newoverlay.png file
Check the attachmentRepo directory (in main game directory). You should see a new one (possibly 3da95459-0dd5-478e-bda9-5fa6131b0be2) with your files in it.
5. Package for distribution. It should copy the directory from the Repo to your game folder and include it in the ZIP.

When you load the scenario, the GUID directory is moved to the Repo directory.

The 'attachmentRepo' directory holds the attachments from all scenarios (including campigns) and can be used as a source for including existing attachments in new scenarios.

That was the procedure I followed, I just tried it again and it still hangs. Perhaps I can put the zip together manually though.

michaelm75au -> RE: Package scenario for distribution hang (5/13/2016 12:51:28 PM)

Can you see a directory in the Repo with your files?

Yes I can. Could you upload a copy of the zip you get from packaging for distribution? I can't make one so I'm not sure of its structure.

Ah, didn't notice. Thanks

Also, since I didn't post it, here is the zip I get when I package for distribution my test scenario. Notice the different structure and the file name shortening.

Yea. Weird it losing first part of each file and directory. The last portion of GUID directory is correct. Wonder if there is some WIN10 setting or such coming into play???

Thanks guys. Added to our work list.

We'll take a look

Mike
