gretzel -> Game won't start anymore out of nowhere (5/19/2016 2:48:28 AM)

I was just playing this game yesterday and now it won't start up anymore. Splash screen appears, its saying stuff like 'refueling pirate ships' and ****, then the splash screen vanishes and ....nothing. Game was working fine yesterday, I didn't make any adjustments to it or my computer and now it won't start. What could possibly be the problem?

Something changed somewhere?

Did you enable or add a new mod? A buggy mod could possibly give that behavior. If you did, undo that.

Did you update Windows, or install something else? Did you security software mess with the install thinking some file inside needed to be taken care of? Check the program logs, and consider to run the installer again (or verify if on steam).

There ought to be a crash log. You should have a crash log created. It is found in approximately "Documents - My Games - Distant Worlds Universe - 1.9.5.12" and is called something like CrashDump.txt. I do not have the game here to check...

Post the contents in the tech support forum if you fail to get it running again.

check firewall and anti virus settings and run as admin, see if that helps, normally it will be a issue with one or the others, so check logs to see which one may have caused it, good luck

Sounds like a corrupt file. Suggest that you reinstall....GP

I had the same problem when i first tried to play it, What fixed it for me was making Windows Media player as the default player.
