"24 cent" was pretty pricey back in 1918.

Military /occupation stamps/covers etc etc. Mostly WWII European theatre but also going back to WWI to a much smaller extent..

Plus have a large collection of Polish stamps from the 1860's to 1990....

Military and occupation stamps and covers has always fascinated me...I have collected some over the years. Your Polish collection, are they unused, used (postally used ot CTO)?

Well it was an airmail stamp and was much more expensive than the regular stamps. They were about 2 to 4 cents. Would have to pull out my mother's stamp collection to be sure.

I wasn't clear...I meant that today's 47 cent first class letter rate is a bargain to send a letter from LA to NY! [:)]

Not only airmail, but upside down airmail.
