I've been following the mod design for Focus Pacific (more like lurking in their design thread).

Paradigmblue:
One of the biggest weaknesses that we've had in developing the mod is that both of us are primarily allied players with little experience with the Japanese economy. When I play-test the Japanese side, I know that I am not bending the Japanese economy over my knee like some of the great JFB players do regularly in their games on the AAR forum, and that means that I'm having to guess on some things. This is compounded by the fact that despite repeated attempts, I've never been able to get tracker to work on my system.

What I'm getting at is that we would really like some folks with experience playing Japan to give the mod a try with the goal of really exploiting the economic system. How much can you raise aircraft production and still keep things going? How about HI expansion? Do you have what you need to crank out 300 zeroes and Tojos a month, or are you limited by supply, HI, resources or oil? These are the kind of questions we'd like to know the answer to, and we'd appreciate your help in finding them.

So I thought I'd kick the tires on this mod… In truth, after looking over the side of Japan, it looks like it would suck to be the allies.

Below are the recommended settings for this game:

Recommended Settings:

While you can play Focus Pacific however you'd like, several design features in Focus Pacific are based around the following settings:
Reliable USN Torpedoes: OFF - Focus Pacific includes a system that allows the allied player to upgrade their US sub fleet to use a slightly more reliable torpedo, and relies on this setting to be OFF to work.
No Unit Withdrawals: ON
Player Defined Upgrades: ON
Realistic R&D: ON (However, Allied air-power is MUCH stronger in Focus Pacific than in stock. Players may decide to allow Realistic R&D OFF if they feel that the expanded reinforcements and better air-frames in Focus Pacific the allies receive need to be balanced by greater Japanese flexibility in their own production)
Advanced Weather - ON
Historical 1st turn - OFF

Recommended Focus Pacific House Rules - Scenario 71 & 72:

*The allied player will begin to receive Soviet Lend-Lease aircraft in the fall of 42 in Alaska. These squadrons should not be used for any mission types. Instead, they should be transferred along the historical Lend-Lease path from Alaska to Uel-Kal, Seymchan, Yakutsk, Kirensk, and finally to Krasnovarsk. There the squadrons should be disbanded, adding the Lend-Lease planes into the Soviet aircraft pool.
*Allied heavy bombers may not be based out of Soviet controlled bases.
*No Japanese warp invasions.
*No CV hunting until 12/9/41.
*On turn one, the Allied player can issue orders to any TF at sea or any Chinese LCU's/Air units, but may not create new task-forces, move non-Chinese forces or give attack orders to any non-Chinese air unit.
*Players may not buy out Infantry, Artillery or Armor to unrestricted Air HQs.

I'd like to try Scenario 71, which is with Russia active. I'm good for 3-5 turns per week and I'll be posting notes in the forum for the benefit of the designers.

Is anyone interested in a dance?

I'd be happy to be your allied opponent Mike. I have to warn you, I'm terrible at the game, but I even when I'm losing I enjoy it. I can usually do 1 turn a day, 2-3 on Sunday.

Alrighty, Paradigmblue - we'll dance. Also, thanks to you and General Patton abd those that helped with suggestions\testing\etc. for the time and efforts you've invested in setting up these mods.

Paradigmblue - I'll get you out a first turn but probably not till 2morrow.

If you could PM me your email addy, I'd greatly appreciate it.
