Alan Sharif -> AI Has Come To A Grinding Halt (6/13/2016 2:12:45 PM)

I had previously had problems with a slow AI, but the recent patch seem to cure the problem. However, I am currently playing T27 of the Midway scenario as the US. When the AI takes it's turn it thinks about it for ever. I have left it for over an hour 'Thinking' about it's next move before terminating the game. I did remove then reinstall the game on steam, but this has made no difference at all. Can you help?

and now onto the bad news,

Intel Pentium B960 @ 2.20GHz, it's half the speeds of the slowest i3 processor so is a very low end budget CPU, add in a laptop edition which means a cut down 2 core low powered version, add into this a onchip GPU/ VGA solution which again takes CPU time and speed from the CPU meaning even slower performance i'm sorry to say.

needed
quote:

Graphics: 512 Mb DirectX 9 video card with shader model 2.0

got

Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics (onchip)

Display Memory: 1664 MB
Dedicated Memory: 32 MB too low
Shared Memory: 1632 MB

system users shared memory which not only is slower, but takes resources away from the system, which yes has 8gb but using 2 gb for GPU use means the system has less, and makes the CPU work harder doing 2 jobs instead of a basic card with even the min amount of 500mb would be a better and quicker solution.

my opinion is,

loose Avast for a start, freeing up some resources and use the inbuilt M/S offering, disable as many things on start up so you're system has more resources free, and turn most settings down to bare minimum in game and re test and see if it helps any, good luck

not really a patch issue as such, as if it worked well before the patch, and now it's slower? it maybe just pushing your system more or maybe over the limits of what it is capable of doing, freeing up some may help this and is what i'd do, but if you think it's something else, please hold for staff assistance which may offer a different or better solution thanks

edited typo's

Hi Alan, it's quite possible there is an underlying problem we can solve. I'm looking into it.

Myrddraal -> RE: AI Has Come To A Grinding Halt (6/16/2016 6:19:35 PM)

And just to follow up on that, I can confirm that there is definitely an underlying bug. Thanks for the comprehensive attachments. I hope to get back to you asap with a fix.

Hi Alan,

I've fixed the underlying bug, and the fix will be included in the next patch.

I also attach a modified version of your savegame which hopefully should allow you to continue.

Let me know if you have any more problems!

Guys, thank you both for your response, I really appreciate it. OOB is fantastic and I do not want to stop playing it. Thanks again. Alan
