So, i know that airbases, especially heavy bomber type bases (HE-111s, etc) suck up a lot of supplies/fuel, etc, and thus cost a lot of trucks to move, but in 41, i still mostly don't worry about it, and get my Luftwaffe bases moving as groups together up close to the ever moving front, generally within 6-10 hexes of the front after all moves are done, and then i will move my Stukas/Me109s up a little closer during the turn once a breakthru has happened.

I do quite a bit of ground unit bombings prior to attacking, and also of course ground support, so if the bases were not close to the front, the planes would end up flying a lot more miles each turn and wear out the Luftwaffe

This means i am constantly (most every turn) moving my air bases, most all of them, except if a mud turn hits, also tend to shut this down by the time snow hits.

How big a deal is this for sucking away my precious truck surplus? Do yall do this also? I suppose i could do a lot fewer ground unit bombings and save on Luftwaffe miles flown and not need the bases so close to the front, but i sure like those bombings and the disruptions prior to attacking key hexes!

Thanks
Randy

Playing Axis, want air bases close enough for interception & escort. After Soviet air forces have been well handled, then unescorted long range bombing is worthwhile. Watch air losses inter-turn and at start of next turn. Believe Soviet air forces aren't a factor until '43 or so.
