MODS
We have included a number of user made modifications that may enhance your gaming experience. It is recommended to use the JSGME Modification Enabler Software that is included as part of the installation. See Section 16.3 for instructions.

• Alan R. Arvold Ode To Arab-Israeli Wars – This is a scenario set based on the Arab-Israeli Wars created by Alan R. Arvold.
• Ode to Arab-Israeli Wars – This is a 2D graphics modification by Petri Nieminen (aka Crossroads) to provide the players of the Ode to Arab-Israeli Wars scenarios an authentic look and feel when playing the scenarios.
• Alternate 3D Bases – This is a 3D graphics modification that simplifies the roundels in the 3D view, making them easier to distinguish against the terrain.
• Black 2D Unit Profiles – This is a 2D graphics modification that converts the coloured unit graphics to black silhouettes.
• Black Unit Info Box – This is a UI graphics modification that removes the background information when using the Unit List, making the unit information easier to read.
• MausMan 3D Graphics – This is a massive 3D graphics modification that converts all 3D terrain graphics to a smaller scale.
• NATO Icons w. Transp. Background – This is a 2D graphics modification for NATO symbols that removes all colour coding and just displays the black outlines.
• NATO Icons w. White Background – This is a 2D graphics modification for NATO symbols that replaces all colour coding with a white background.

Big Ivan -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 11:24:34 AM)

Somewhat confused by all the posts on the install, sorry.

Do I unzip and install in Mod folder or CSME game folder?

Maybe a quick walk through post on install would help?

Thanks!!

Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 11:56:29 AM)

Hello John!

Yes, it gets a bit confusing. Here's the deal.

  • deactivate all Mods you have active in place. This would include the 1.02 Open Beta, which was packaged as a "mod".
  • download the official 1.02 UPDATE from the link in Daniele's post, or hit the Check For Updates button in the Game Launch Menu (the very first menu).
  • if you chose to download the official update, it is an exe. Run it. It will launch a standard Install Wizard dialog.
  • then, get rid of the middle_east_102_cumulative folder in your Mods folder. That's the Open Beta. No longer needed.

    Or, if you want a clean install:

  • Install CS:Middle East 1.00
  • Install CS:Middle East Update 1.02

    That's it. Hope this helps!

  • dox44 -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 12:37:16 PM)

    1.02 + warhorse's textured graphic mod are excellent upgrades.

    stayed in AIW mods most of the night.

    Thanks to all!

    Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 12:47:14 PM)

    You're most welcome Casebier, happy to hear you're enjoying it! [:)]

    carll11 -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 1:54:46 PM)

    My set up is jacked...

    like Ivan I wasn't sure how to do initiate the update, so I used the extraction method, I deactivated the old mod(s), dled the zip, extracted to Mod folder.....turned mod on(102 cumulative).....then went to play a game, nothing, I select play game, then play scenario, no matter which I pick, new game or renew game the button goes red then....nothing....just sits there after a few minutes you click anywhere on the screen you get the old 'not responding' message, 'wait or close'...trust me, waiting is not an option, it never opens.

    I tried using the MiddleEast.exe directly, same.

    I can use the edit function however, under help ab out it still says 1.02 beta 20160514 btw. My update file says I updated successfully etc.

    oh for what its worth, win 7 pro.

    Jason Petho -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 2:07:10 PM)

    You should be able to click the Check for UPDATE button on your main menu?

    I believe the update should initialize?

    Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 2:09:39 PM)

    Hello Carl, sorry to hear you still have issues. I'd suggest start fresh here.

  • Download the update: CSME-Update-v102.zip
  • Unzip the update, to have: CSME-Update-v102.exe
  • Install the game again from your disk
  • Run CSME-Update-v102.exe, for 1.02 Update.

    That's it. Nothing else. You should not be seeing any folders within zip files, no putting anything into mod folders, etc.

    Just the two steps: 1) Install original 1.00. 2) Install 1.02 update, by running CSME-Update-v102.exe

    Hope this gets you into dry land, finally!

  • Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 2:11:44 PM)

    Or as Jason suggested:

  • Install 1.00 from your disk
  • Click the [ Check For Update ] button, to run the update process. Follow the instructions on screen.

    You should not see or do anything else besides these two steps (either).

    Hope this helps!

  • Jason Petho -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 2:12:06 PM)

    Method one:

    1. deactivate any mods
    2. download the zip file
    3. extract the zip file
    4. double click the exe file
    5. install the update

    Method two:

    1. deactivate any mods
    2. uninstall your game
    3. reinstall the game in the default location
    4. download the UPDATE zip file
    5. extract the UPDATE zip file
    6. double click the exe file
    7. install the update

    Method three (This needs confirmation, but should work)

    1. Press the Check for Update button on the main menu
    2. Follow instructions

  • To be clear ( for me) Are you saying we should NOT be going into JSGME and activating 1.02?

    carll11 -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 4:07:01 PM)

    should there be a 'middle_east_102_cumulative' folder in the MECS folder?

    Jason Petho -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 4:16:19 PM)

    No.

    Jason Petho -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 4:17:12 PM)

    1.02 is now an official update, JSME is no longer required.

    That was just for the BETA.

    Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/23/2016 4:34:20 PM)

    I'd suggest the most straight forward option is to uninstall the game, install it again from disk, then click Check For Updates in the menu. Then follow instructions.

    This ensures you have a clean install. Let us know how it goes!

  • Hey Crossroads,

    Worked like a charm![&o]

    Backed out with JSGME the mods I was using. Unzipped 1.02 in main game folder. Ran the executable. Re-entered my mods with JSGME. Opened game and began playing a scenario.
    With the final 1.02 enhancements and Warhorse's new 2D graphics this game is so sweet!

    Can't wait to see what the dev team has in store for Vietnam, Korea and the new WWII renditions

    Thanks again my friend!

    John

    Quick question. It looks like the AH AIW mod works fine by itself. Just curious what the Arvold Ode mod and AIW terrain mod adds to this or if they're redundant now, and if there is an optimum sequence for activating multiple mods? Thank you!!

    Hello pzgndr! Here's a quick Table of Contents for all things Mod and Modding. I added a bit detail to mod descriptions, so what Alan's Mod includes are the 40 AIW inspired scenarios, and what the AIW Terrain mod does it changes elevation 0, 1 and 2 terrain tiles to those reminiscent of AIW mapboards.

    As for activating multiple mods, that's possible too. You just need to consider what they change. For instance you might want to, for AIW scenarios, first enable the Black 2D Unit profiles to change all nations to use black silhouettes, and then to add AIW Terrain and Counter mod, to further change the IDF, Egypt, Syria and Jordan counters to have NATO symbols for foot infantry, similar in game. There will be a warning, but in this case you can ignore. There's a JSGME FAQ here.

    Hope this helps!

    Crossroads -> RE: Campaign Series Middle East: 1948 – 1985 Version 1.02 available! (6/25/2016 7:52:37 AM)

    ^^On another note, yes: those mods now included in the 1.02 install make the previously separately downloaded same mods obsolete.

    Yessir, you can also download the 1.02 update manually. There's a link for that in the Opening Post of this thread.
