I'm not sure if it's the map or the # of counters, but the game comes down to a screaching halt, taking 10-20 seconds for a single hex move before I can do anything else.

The smaller scenarios work great. But when I get to 3 or more maps, it falls apart. I've done the resolution tricks with absolutely no change in behavior. Plus this game is not graphic intensive at all.

It's my feeling that on these large maps, the game is checking LOS for opportunity fire and the larger the maps, the more it checks, the slower the game runs, making the large scenarios unplayable.

Yes that can take time as the computer has to work hard work out best move. There are two ways to increase the speed.

1. Change the "Path Quality" when you start a scenario in the Scenario Configuration Window. This is set to "High" as standard and uses a lot of CPU power. Lower this to "Medium" or "Low" to get a lower CPU hit and a faster moving game. The downside is that the AI could perform worse but not necessarily.

2. Change the "Day Visibility". Changing the scenario Day Visibility will also lower the CPU hit. This setting lowers the range that you and the AI can see in a scenario. On huge complex maps a Day Visibility of lower value (most are set to unlimited) say 14 will dramatically change the performance. To change a Scenarios Day Visibility do as follows:
- Open the Editor
- Open the scenario in the Editor
- Go to Scenario Attributes in the Settings Menu
- Change the Day Visibility to a value you think would be good.
- Save the Scenario

I hope this helps.
