Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #3. RN. North Sea, Combat.

1. In the North Sea the CA Fiji in the 3-box will try to initiate combat.

2. The French sub unit is NOT committed.

3. Search rolls are 2 (allies) and 4 (axis). The RN ships in the 3 & 4 box find the three KM ships in the 4-box. The KM ships are surprised.

4. The allies use their 2 surprise points to increase damage against the three KM ships.

5. What are your instructions for applying the 1 destroyed, 2 damaged and 2 aborted to the three KM ships?

X on Admiral Hipper
D on Gneissenau
D on Scharnhorst
A's won't matter, Germans aborting the sea zone. Any non damaged ships abort to Brest.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #3. RN. North Sea, Naval Battle.

Both sides lose a heavy cruiser. The two German pocket battleships avoid damage but are forced to abort. Disappointing from the allies perspective as the two German pocket battleships were fleeing the sea area anyway.

Scharnhorst and Gniesenau were battlecruisers, not pocket battleships. The pocket battleships were Deutschland, Admiral Graf Spee, and Admiral Scheer.

Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were hard ships to pin down. You just managed to recreate the Channel dash, but in reverse.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #8. Actions.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/3/2016 7:16:44 PM)

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #8. French & RN Naval Move. East Med.

1. The French use the one naval move of their combine to put three French ships into the 4 box of the East Med.

2. The RN uses 1 of their two naval moves of a combine to move a loaded transport at sea in the 2-box of Cape St. Vincent through the West Med and to port in Cyprus. Because of the storms raging in the West Med, axis air power was "grounded" and since the axis had no SCS at sea there the loaded transport could traverse without the risk of axis interception.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/3/2016 7:18:38 PM)

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #8. RN. Bay of Biscay.

1. The RN uses the second, and last, naval move of their combine to move a transport loaded with a fighter into the Bay of Biscay.

2. Do the axis wish to intercept? If so, which unit they like to use?

[image]local://upfiles/31901/30E3C6AB354D4EBB90BC36EA630FD7EA.jpg[/image]

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/3/2016 7:53:26 PM)

No.

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/4/2016 12:33:41 AM)

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Allied #8. RN. Contested Sea Areas.

There are two contested sea areas and the RN chooses NOT to try to initiate combat in either.

Since the transport loaded with the fighter that Pat didn't try to intercept in the Bay of Biscay moved onto Cape St. Vincent, the axis can't try to initiate in the Bay of Biscay. Since no movement into or within the Fareores gap was made, neither can they try there either. Bottom line, no naval combat this impulse.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/4/2016 1:49:28 AM)

JF41 i11:
GE and JP take land actions while IT takes a combined.
Italy moves 4-CAs to the 4-box of the Italian coast.
Italy initiates combat in the Bay of Biscay.
Rnd 1 went the axis ways, though two subs were aborted (allies lost 2CP and had 3CP aborted). The axis did not commit the remaining sub to combat in round 2, so it ended after one round.
Where would you like the 3 CP to abort. The GE sub went to Bordeaux and the Italian to Bayonne.
Going to eat dinner, if there is no answer when I get back, I'll abort to Plymouth.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/4/2016 2:57:56 AM)

JF41 i11:
Italian Coast searches both find on 1/2. No net surprise points. We each have 2D A to allocate.
How do you wish to allocate your damage? Will you stay for a second round?

[image]local://upfiles/47448/1307232020CD4C6DAFEAAF114C934673.jpg[/image]

rkr1958 -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/4/2016 3:50:59 PM)

1. The 3 CP aborted go to Plymouth.

2. D on CA Dorsetshire, D on CA Canberra and A on CV Glorious.

3. If the CV Glorious is aborted then the RN stays. If not, then it aborts.

4. Aborts to Malta.

ashkpa -> RE: Pat vs Ronnie GW AAR (9/4/2016 8:37:39 PM)

JF41 i11:
Italian Coast results below. The Glorious made it's damage control, so the British abort the zone per instructions.
