For reference, the main dropzone will be the open area to the Northeast - East of Ranville. How close each unit comes to hitting that 'target' is unknown. You will know your actual location once you hit the ground.

Here is another map for reference;

I am thinking, once this gets started, to give each Commander/Unit their own thread we me also running a single campaign AAR thread. That way players can keep up with stuff for their specific unit and not have to dig through a single massive thread and try to sort through everything. Since there is no 'human' enemy that will also help keep PM traffic to a minimum.

Thoughts?

I wish we could set status when a unit was paced in the editor such as starting them off broken or pinned, etc.

Me too! Such a feature could come handy for a series of situations where troops are not immediately ready for action.

I strongly agree with the proposal of having individual threads for every company commander.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/20/2016 6:12:29 PM)

COMMANDERS! Please note that each one of your company's will be spread out aboard 3 C-47 Dakotas. This means you will be selecting 3 'drop points' on your planning map for each plane and the points must be at least 5 hexes apart (planes cannot fly on top of each other ;-) ). I will allow you to designate which leader/squad will be in each plane. You will also need to designate which squad will carry which support weapon.

Here is the starting load and unit ID# for each of your 3 planes;

C-47 Dakota #1
ID# 3: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 4: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 5: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 6: SQUAD: Airborne

C-47 Dakota #2
ID# 7: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 8: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 9: SQUAD: Airborne

C-47 Dakota #3
ID# 10: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 11: SQUAD: Airborne
ID# 12: SQUAD: Airborne

Among the above units you will be able to assign the following Support Weapons (1 per squad);
2x SW: LIGHT MG
2x SW: MTR 51 Airborne
2x SW: PIAT

I will also need to know which plane each of the following leader swill be in
ID# 0: LEADER: Captain A** (i.e YOU!)
ID# 1: LEADER: TBD
ID# 2: LEADER: TBD

NOTE: The 1x CREW w/3in MTR from Battalion, will be in the same plane as the Company Commander (you).

You do not need to post anything yet, I will ask for that when I open each of your official GTotH threads BUT if you have questions feel free to go ahead and ask them now.

[sm=character0272.gif]

guys, it remains 5 positions,[:)]

Make an effort,

Double Deuce knows how to make the scenarios,[&o]

And do not count on me for scenarios right now because I'm working on a big project that takes me a long time. [:-]

So enjoy the scenarios you offer Double Deuce.[8D]

This is my friendly advice. [;)]

UP844 -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/20/2016 8:45:03 PM)

I take for granted that the 3 Dakotas will fly in the same direction [:)], so here is my silly question #1: will we decide their heading, or will it be pre-set?

You are correct they will be flying the same direction and yes, I will let you choose the approach path.

I strongly agree with the proposal of having individual threads for every company commander.

Individual unit/commander threads have been created in the TotH After Action Report subforum. You may begin organizing your company in the 3 C-47 Dakotas to prepare for the flight over the channel towards the dropzone near Ranville.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/21/2016 5:37:00 PM)

As each plane is "loaded" I will post your dropzone maps. You will need to download that map and mark the 3 drop points along with the direction of the planes travel (all 3 in the same direction), then upload it back to your thread. The objectives for your company will be marked with big yellow 'V's.

When I post the map in each of your threads I will include more details for you to make a better plan but I just wanted to post this so you have and idea of where we were at and what the next steps are.

UP844 -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/21/2016 7:16:45 PM)

Planes loaded!

I spread the SW and leaders as evenly as possible, taking into account the possibility of a Dakota getting lost or being shot down (I am sure Double Deuce has implemented something about these occurrences [:D]).

I had the LEADER ranks listed wrong, their leadership values were correct, just the ranks were listed wrong. These have been updated.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [OFFICIAL] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/22/2016 5:49:36 AM)

A note to Commanders, the 'ASL maps' that get posted in your individual unit threads should be considered generic planning maps and will NOT 100% accurately reflect the exact terrain that you find on the ground. This is because some features in the ASL maps cannot be replicated in TotH however, they should be very, very close.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/25/2016 7:47:58 AM)

Just an update. The setup for the 1st scenarios are going a little slower than normal because I am having to determine the landing hex for each individual squad and leader. Then I have to work up the victory conditions. I'm hoping it should not be more than another couple days at most.

rico21 -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/25/2016 10:13:47 AM)

The best player of us is UP844,
More he is very lucky,
Do not hesitate to get him very hard the victory conditions.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/25/2016 1:27:46 PM)

Well, he did have 2 full squads drift off the map, so he will be going into the landing short of troops although they should show up after first light. [8D]

UP844 -> RE: [REBOOT] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/25/2016 2:46:29 PM)

Two squads? I thought at least an entire platoon would scatter off-map [:D].

I hope my batman has safely landed with the hunting horn intact, otherwise how can we summon those poor chaps getting lost in the lovely French countryside? [:D]

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [OFFICIAL] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/27/2016 3:42:00 PM)

I made a few changes to the 1st Mission. To start, it will be played at 'HARD' difficultly level and not at 'VERY HARD' level. The important thing is to read the information in both the briefing text and AAR Form very closely.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [OFFICIAL] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (7/27/2016 4:06:26 PM)

First missions have been sent out via PM. There is no time limit on when you need to complete the mission. Take your time and read all the briefing text. Feel free to post ongoing AAR information, notes, etc in your individual AAR threads so that others can feel your pain. [;)]

Any questions please ask.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [OFFICIAL] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (8/2/2016 7:50:31 PM)

I'm still here and not ignoring you guys, just taking a short breather before processing the results.

DoubleDeuce -> RE: [OFFICIAL] Group Tigers on the Hunt Combat Campaign - Operation Tonga (9/13/2016 9:29:31 AM)

Sorry for being MIA. Real life reared its ugly head and I will continue to be indisposed for some time. [:(]
