Retreat1970 -> RE: Pharus system view (7/15/2016 10:32:27 PM)

Lol, I sometimes click your pictures like I can interact.

The Banoserit are only phaser, and the Human are only missiles. See if you can put that to an advantage.

Wow, you're looking at taking 3K minimum to bust that homeworld. Good luck. I always hated recruiting for invasions.

AVN -> RE: Pharus system view (7/15/2016 10:36:09 PM)

I just want to let you know that I'm still following your AAR.

I believe (although I'm not 100% sure) that the main part of your strategy is to minimize losses of ships/mines/bases as much as possible.
Am I correct ?

I have done that myself, lol [:D]
Thanks for the tip- especially on the Humans being just Missiles.
About busting that home world- yep, and unfortunately it is going to require me spending even more for more troop transports.

Thanks! As for strategy: well, yes- largely. Zenox racial victory conditions however require me to go for the most controlled Ancient ruins and build the Archives. This war for what I am calling the Core systems (the nearby Banoserit colonies)is unavoidable, however. I'll show you why with the next postings. But after this I will very definitely being playing it peaceful for as long as possible.

Twigster -> Known Galaxy (7/16/2016 9:09:34 PM)

This is the Galaxy as I know it at the moment...

Twigster -> RE: Known Galaxy (7/16/2016 9:12:31 PM)

There are lots of Desert planets nearby. The Banoserit then are direct competitors for colonies in my part of the Galaxy at this point in time. I have to take them out.

Twigster -> RE: Known Galaxy (7/16/2016 9:14:44 PM)

Notice that there are NO Continental planets near my home world, and just a few in the Banoserit empires areas.

Twigster -> Back to the story... (7/16/2016 9:20:36 PM)

I got Terraforming, finally! And the moment of decision at Varacta comes closer.

Twigster -> RE: Back to the story... (7/16/2016 9:23:27 PM)

I had to start taxing the newer colonies.

Twigster -> RE: Back to the story... (7/16/2016 9:25:39 PM)

A couple of people have commented on War Weariness popping back to good as soon as a war is concluded. True, but- being at extreme War Weariness for too long does terrible things to the economy.

Twigster -> RE: Back to the story... (7/16/2016 9:27:27 PM)

The battle at Varacta begins.

Twigster -> RE: Back to the story... (7/16/2016 9:28:56 PM)

It does not go too well...

Twigster -> RE: Back to the story... (7/16/2016 9:31:26 PM)

The end of 1 Battlefleet.

Twigster -> 11/11/2226 (7/16/2016 9:33:25 PM)

The economy is deteriorating more quickly now. The situation is critical.

Twigster -> RE: 11/11/2226 (7/16/2016 9:35:34 PM)

In what is an extremely hard choice as well as an act of desperation, I decide to scrap two LSPs. This really, really hurts.

Twigster -> 1/30/2227 (7/16/2016 9:37:53 PM)

2 Battlefleet's 10 heavy cruisers arrive at Varacta.

Twigster -> RE: 1/30/2227 (7/16/2016 9:39:45 PM)

...and suffer the same fate as 1 Battlefleet. AND I got some more good news. Things are not exactly going as well as hoped.

Twigster -> 4/15/2227 (7/16/2016 9:43:46 PM)

After 6 solid years of war, and being well behind the curve (too many of my assets are still too far from the fighting front), I decide to sue for peace. My thinking was that the economy simply could not take the strain anymore.

Twigster -> RE: 4/15/2227 (7/16/2016 9:46:25 PM)

Both empires had approached me for peace about a year and a half earlier.

Twigster -> 6/23/2227 (7/16/2016 9:48:40 PM)

This happens two months after ending the war. Great, and so much for taking a breather to gather forces and give the economy a break.

Retreat1970 -> RE: 4/15/2227 (7/16/2016 9:51:36 PM)

Awesome update. I feel your pain. It isn't going to get easier either.

On a side note: you do know what a Terraforming building does right? So I'm confused about your excitement.

Twigster -> 8/8/2227 (7/16/2016 9:52:07 PM)

No new fighting has taken place yet. Reinforcements are starting to enter the combat area, but 3 Battlefleet is still quite some time away.

Twigster -> 10/23/2227 (7/16/2016 9:59:24 PM)

I decide to take advantage of the lull and try to sneak in a gas mining station of my own at Varacta. Having the scouts in the enemy's backyard proves vital in making a guesstimate as to whether I have time to get forces to Varacta to defend the refueling point BEFORE enemy forces arrive. In the meantime... YAY! My newest colony (a source of Zentabia, though so far away from my other colonies no freighters have arrived yet) has revolted and gone independent. Yet more resources (I had paid for 5 ground battalions at Zerolast) and time (I have to conquer the new independent colony. Hopefully before it becomes a new empire) lost. Swell.

Twigster -> Jump to 1/20/2229 (7/16/2016 10:04:18 PM)

There has still been no new fighting. Not being shown is the rather intense espionage war ongoing, not only between me, the Pharus Authority and the Banoserit Territory, but also several Pirate clans continue to (sometimes) destroy or delay construction on mining stations. The economic situation is looking a little brighter. My gas mining station at Varacta has been completed. And the bulk of my forces are nearly all gathered, allowing me to seriously plan my next strike.

Twigster -> Recent Comparisons-Military (7/17/2016 10:37:00 PM)

A quick look at the current empire comparisons.

Twigster -> RE: Recent Comparisons-GDP (7/17/2016 10:38:16 PM)

GDP... the war is hurting my economic development, obviously.

Twigster -> RE: Recent Comparisons-Territory (7/17/2016 10:39:45 PM)

The Humans with a Way of Darkness government are expanding rather nicely.

Twigster -> RE: Recent Comparisons-Territory (7/17/2016 10:44:04 PM)

I had an idea while my forces were gathering for my next move; I sent a scout to the Banoserit Territory capital system, which from long range scans appeared top be far less-well defended than the Pharus system. Indeed, that is exactly what my scout has discovered. Instead of attacking the enemy (which is likely stronger than the force I will be sending to attack) where he is strongest, I will attack the softer target.

Tebren 1's ground defenses.

Twigster -> Elsewhere... (7/17/2016 10:47:57 PM)

After scouting Tebren, I sent a scout to do something I have been neglecting the entire game thus far- exploring the ship graveyards and the like.
