Cross -> Opponent for small/medium battle (4/15/2003 7:39:02 AM)

I have not played spwaw PBEM before; but have played half a dozen spww2 PBEM games.

I am interested in a medium map game with 2000 points max.

No offboard arty, but planes are fine, if you like.
Do we have to limit arty in spwaw? If so, why is that?

I have version 7.1

Command & control OFF,

Everything else ON, except fast arty.

I can play about 5 times a week.

I prefer to play the Brits. my second choice would be German, but I think most would take me up on the first choice.

regards,
Cross

Welcome to the game, Cross! :)

You'll get a taker on that proposal, at least for early war years.

There isn't a limit to arty in SP:WAW per se, but we usually agree on a limitation. The reason being that artillery is devastating compared to its' cost. If you bring along 4 batallions of 150mm artillery, your opponent will do nothing but hunker down and cry through the game - no fun. So we usually limit artillery to ~10% of total points, not counting the units organic to companies and such, and not AT or AA guns either.

But hey, it's all agreed upon in each game, so if both feel that more artillery is OK, then go for it. :)

Ciao Cross,

your settings are fine for me, what about a early war battle between your British and my Germans in 1940?

If you agree, set-up this match, my e-mail is:

Irinami -> (4/15/2003 8:09:27 PM)

I'll get in line after Bob there.

How 'bout Imperial Japan (me) vs. UK (you), any era, 1500 points, 10% arty max, 10% mines max... NO use of the Nations button. ;)

Just let me know when you're ready, I'll loiter 'till then. :)

Thanks for the explanation Belisarius:

I can live with limited arty, however it does suggest that arty is either too cheap, or too effective in spwaw.

Brutto-Bob, I will send you over a game tonight if I can, but it may have to wait until Thursday. Do you want to limit arty to the "standard 10%" ?

Irinami; I can only play one game at a time right now. But will contact you when I free up some time.

regards,
Cross

Brutto-Bob -> (4/15/2003 11:55:14 PM)

I agree: 10% arty Max.

For the delay, there is not problem, take all the time that you need.

Irinami -> (4/16/2003 9:47:22 AM)

Roger, wilco. ;) I'm the same way, 1 at a time.
