The UI could certainly be updated to be more compatible with modern hardware/software, particular resolutions, etc, but really the only part that I can think needs a serious overhaul is the industry screen, maybe the ship identification screen too.

Some other things I would like to see:

1. A in-game tab for each ship with historical past actions (bombardments, surface action, air attacks) - This would be particularly useful for figuring out how effective subs are in their established patrol areas.
2. In-game projections for resources, fuel stocks, engines production into the future, etc.
3. A larger strategic map to make use of larger resolutions today, very hard to see at the moment.
4. An updated map (though secondary given the great user-made maps we have)
5. Maybe some sort of integration of convoy routes into the strategic map?

I could probably think of more off the top of my head. These are just random thoughts.

I'd settle for a simple blinking of the white line surrounding the current selected hex. The screen view moves on its own and sometimes in places like China where there is a lot of light coloured background I have trouble re-acquiring the location I was just working on. I suppose the same could be done for the icon of any selected unit.

There is a good icon and button mod to see TF's more clearly as well as dot bases here - http://www.designmodproject.de/en/
There are lots of graphic changes in this and it used to be in 5 parts but now amalgamated in to one download. I find the TF icons much better

Do you know where I can find a couple of screenshots of this mod? Sounds interesting.

I wonder what will happen when our expectations meet the reality

moonraker65 -> RE: Graphical update in the works? (8/2/2016 2:19:15 PM)

Task Force icons. Much bigger than stock and they are sort of colour coded to tell you what they are. The green ones are Amphibious and the brown ones are RES supply

moonraker65 -> RE: Graphical update in the works? (8/2/2016 2:24:11 PM)

Base icons. Notice how the dot bases are nice and large so you can see them them much more clearly. One thing to note however is that because this comes from a German website if you use any of the screens for aerial, naval or ground combat they have the words changed to German. It's a bit fiddly but as it's all art then you can choose which files you do or don't want and swap accordingly. (Probably best to save the originals in case you don't like it). For me though this mod combined with Chem Kid's map gives the game a nice look.

LCU device hard and soft firepower and antitank values accessible in game without having to search a database.

That would affect the FOW factor if the enemy can see the same coding of colours.

I haven't noticed any difference with F o W. So not sure that's a factor. I've used this mod for a good 4 years at least with no problems

Can't be that broken, it's been around a long time now. In any case I've seen updates to many games before all usually done to 'improve' graphics but they nearly always turn to be pig's orphans.

JocMeister -> RE: Graphical update in the works? (8/3/2016 9:18:58 AM)

I still say it AE for Ipad.

"The worlds most complex war simulation now at your disposal with intuitive one click buttons".

"Simplified logistics and many, many more improvements".

"Blast away the enemy carriers at Midway with a single click of your finger".

"New improved graphics".

"Take the role of Nimitz from the comforts of your couch.

"Most complex war game ever created for the Ipad".

"Exciting mini games!

"Play out the entire Pacific war during an afternoon with your friend. Revolutionizing multiplayer access"

"Unlock new missions as you progress through the exciting story driven campaign.

"Hidden achievements"

"Only €84,99"

Yaab -> RE: Graphical update in the works? (8/3/2016 9:20:07 AM)

Don't forget Tracker for Ipad.

Panther Bait -> RE: Graphical update in the works? (8/3/2016 9:59:06 PM)

My wish would be to reverse the order mechanic (particularly air targeting) in the game. Rather than click on a bunch of units and tell each of the what to attack. I would like to click on the target and be able to select which units I want to attack it (filtered by range, type, etc.).

Mike

robinsa -> RE: Graphical update in the works? (9/4/2016 10:10:10 PM)

Any updates on this?

Now that is not a bad idea. Click the target base, select 'designate as air target', then it gives you the choice of A) Individiual units from a list or B) All appropriate air groups within range. At which point any bomber within range sets it as the target and fighters within range set it as escort target. It could even allow you to set attack strength (IE how much of each group to send 50 attack 50 cap, etc).

Talk about a time saver there.

It's a pie-in-the-sky wish list. The game is no longer officially supported other than tech issues - further development will not be funded. If some team of users could make it happen, that would be fine .... but Matrix and 2X4 Games are not likely to allow access to their proprietary game code so I doubt there is much that could be done.

Hey, there have to be some frustrations that make us want to set aside this game and buy some other ones or the industry would collapse! My problem is that I am not easily enough frustrated, compared to intrigued, with the game!

That is sad to hear, I feel a bit dissapointed but it is my fault because of creating false expectantions :D

It reached my top 1 games position really really fast.
