Uncle Lumpy -> Question on Construction ships (8/2/2016 3:08:34 PM)

I typically leave my Construction ships on Auto. For the most part, this seems to work fairly well. Inevitably, thought I will find one of them scurrying half way across the Galaxy to repair a World Destroyer. I find this to be a pointless mission because first, the Giant Kaltors guarding the wreckage will never let the constructor close. Secondly, even if the constructor can get to work on the ship, the game will end long before the Destroyer is completed. As I have no interest in a World Destroyer, I have to manually stop the constructor and assign it a new mission. Only to have another constructor attempt to repair the Destroyer a few game moments later, etc. I usually send a fleet to destroy the World Destroyer, thus removing it as a potential mission. I was wondering if there was any other way to keep the constructors from attempting to repair the Destroyer? I ask this because I noticed a few games ago my constructors were going crazy building Research Stations. They had already built 7 to 8 stations and were in the process of building 3 to 4 more! Inoticed in the Empire Policy screen I had made Research a "Very High" priority. I unchecked that box and Checked "Low" priority. The constructors stopped build Research Stations. The same thing seems to happen with Resort Bases. "High Priority" equals a lot of Resort Bases, "Low Priority" equals few or none being built. That being said, is there a priority setting in the the Empire Policy screen that can be checked/unchecked to control repairs to World Destrpyers?

Last line of the racial policy file (not in game options but the text file) is build Planet destroyers n/y. What you input here should work on auto constructors. I only say should, because idk for sure. When I play I just assume some auto constructors do their thing, and I compensate by building more.

Got it. Will attempt it. Thanks!

Just a side note, but I believe repairing advanced ship (and a world destroyer should qualify as an advanced ship) gives a (10%?) bonus to your research while the repair is ongoing. If at all possible, I prefer to secure the site and let a constructor waste time there.

The game really needs a method to blacklist certain systems, to prevent your automated ships from going there. Would be useful for Silvermist infestations as well.

Hopefully in DW2!

This (seemingly) simple ability would drastically improve the quality of life of the game for me.

Except that the silver mist can move from system to system.

It's lovely when one just shows up and eats one of your colonies out of the blue. [:(]

I would quite like to see an option to just limit auto construction to within your empires space. If you want to build outside your space you can manual order it to.

Reasonable idea, but as automation goes I don't mind how it is. Yes they do silly things from time to time, but they do go after shortages and luxuries fairly well. If things are not going well, you can always put needed items in a queue, while they stay on auto.
