I admit I shamelessly stole it from a political campaign but the shoe fit!!! I hope to learn ALOT :]

PaxMondo -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/4/2016 4:15:41 AM)

You're allies?

Thankfully!! It is PDU on though so I am gonna die :]

PaxMondo -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/4/2016 4:42:55 AM)

I agree that Mr. Kane is a good player and formidable.

But, the allies still win if you don't make too many errors.

You cannot lose Karachi.

You cannot lose the West Coast.

Everything else is recoverable.

Get him to build a ton of Tojos. Every Tojo he builds is a Frank/Sam you won't ever see. While Tojo is a good early war plane, it is not a Frank.

Don't allow him to focus his forces after 6/42. Make him react to at least 3 areas at a time always.

Be patient.

Trade CV's with him every chance you get, especially early when IJ players take risks with the KB.

IJ players have a time table in early '42 and you know what it is. Don't contest everything, pick a couple and contest those well.

wargmr-

This going to be explosive.

I'm torn between reading both your and Kane's AARs or just yours. I've heard so much about Kane, I would like to see how her operates. Yet, I'm no JFB and would like be free to comment here about anything and everything.

I think Kane will have his hands full with your strategy and tactics.

Best regards,

-Terry

Wow, a bad first day... Good luck, my friend. Don't be afraid to make him fight and use your carriers and other forces. I find it can disrupt the timetable that Pax speaks of. The numbers are on your side.

mussey -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/7/2016 8:15:02 PM)

Only x3 BBs lost at Pearl, that's not too bad. Hopefully you can extract/nurse the others back to SF or LA.

Mike McCreery -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/11/2016 1:32:50 PM)

Due to his success on day 1, Mr. Kane decided to stay and try to attack Pearl Harbor on day 2.

Because his forces had been split between an attack on Manila and Pearl Harbor I figured that it could go either way.

My CAP was set at the best maneuver range with most of the planes at 15K

I sortied groups of light and heavy cruisers out of Pearl in case he stayed for day 2.

The first 2 surface attacks encountered a battleship with light cruiser escort.

Mike McCreery -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/11/2016 1:43:26 PM)

One of my light cruiser groups then stumbled into a battleship with 2 destroyer escorts.

One of the CL groups catches the Kirishima alone as the other destroyers have detached.

Jorge_Stanbury -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/11/2016 2:18:49 PM)

Those CAs are very close to PH's shipyard, they should survive

BB Kirishima: a pity there were no fires,

what scenario are you playing? any HR?

Mike McCreery -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/11/2016 2:51:34 PM)

This strike had to come as a complete disappointment. It looks like maybe a strike of opportunity which is great because the damaged cruisers with no CAP directly NW were ignored.

Of the 80 bombers, about 40 got through the CAP and none of them hit anything.

Slightly modified scenario 2 with almost no HR, standard map with SL.

IF the CA's dont get any more torps they will both survive.

Mike McCreery -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/11/2016 3:16:10 PM)

The afternoon strike was slightly more successful but I dont think anything other than the DD blue is going to sink because of it.

According to this Mr. Kane took some pretty substantial air losses to his bomber wings. I estimate 20-30% of his carrier aircraft that struck pearl did not make it back to their carriers. And because the fighting was over Allied territory the number of pilot casualties should be higher than if not.

You sure about this? [:D]

Still, not bad. The cruisers will likely survive, he basically sunk a DD and shot down some planes, but he lost quite a few planes and probably some pilots.

He will probably not stay any longer, unless he plans to come for Pearl. But well, I don't think that's likely...

Thanks for the heads up. Been writing about the same opponent for years so that is likely to happen a time or two more :]

Yeah, if the cruisers dont take any more torps they are going to be fine.

I am not sure how likely it is he is going for Pearl. He is going to have to replenish pretty quickly here given the 2 days of attacks. Not sure where those BB's can replenish outside of Truk.

Mike McCreery -> RE: Kane and Unable ;] (8/19/2016 3:29:06 PM)

11 days into the war. Mr. Kane is efficiently sectioning off and blocking out the DEI and pacific. He just crossed the line with 101 allied ships sunk to my 6.

In what I would consider the first mistake of his game he somehow got the Isuzu next to some of my dive bombers. I consider it a mistake because I bounced about 9 bombs off the Nagato in the same spot a few days ago. I thought this task force would include a carrier or two which would dispatch my torpedo bombers expeditiously.

Instead an unprotected light cruiser was the victim of the next 9 bombs. I dont see him on radar anymore and the Isuzu had heavy damage and heavy fires so she might be a gonner.

Late April, 1942

Mr. Kane has a reasonably hard push with 4-6 divisions along the Australian coastline. I think he is trying to force me to send in reinforcements. We are not playing for AV which is a good thing since he has me nearly at 5-1 without taking Chungking.
