I have pushed the Allies into northern Thailand and making slow progress south. Is there a trigger for either Thailand as a nation or RTA units individually to surrender? It is June '43.

Yes, there is, but I just tried to find it and couldn't. Matrix had a special unit tasked with scrambling up the manual and putting info where you'd never expect to find it. [:@]

Here's someone discussing it. Apparently they just disband in late '44, come what may. http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3034578&mpage=1&key=thailand

Trivia...IRL Thailand received Nakajima Hayabusa aircraft generally painted either gray or that camouflage of very light grey with green"stripe" camouflage, and their national insignia was the red "meatball" with white painted over the bottom half of the "meatball".
As the Japanese army thought much of this plane, this was considered a "good thing".

So it seems I must continue to fight RTA units until at least 1944.

If I remember correctly you can kill those units if you take their capital..
It really depends on which mod or version you are playing.
The "stock" version is known as "vanilla", (and even it has been modified greatly by a fantasic group of IT folk, history grognards, etc.)

They don't offer much of a fight actually, they seem powerful when they appear but they are low level stuff. Easily brushed aside unless entrenched well.

RTA units have one major weakness: lack of replacements. Other than that, they are comparable to any other minor nation units ... morale and exp start low, but can be trained up. commanders are poor and expensive to replace.
