Aditia -> Tip for the readability of AARs (8/11/2016 7:57:00 PM)

I really enjoy reading AARs, but 1 thing makes them less readable, and that is super wide screenshots.

Having to scroll sideways really isn't a reader's delight [:-]

Using snipping tool (or equivalent) to make your screenies, as to not show pointless part of the map, really helps with this.

Edit: Snipping Tool comes standard with windows and is stupidly easy to use.

Write on! [&o][&o][&o]

The effect could be mitigated by putting line breaks in the text so that only the pic is super wide. But I haven't seen anyone do that. I agree it's an irritating problem, though some AARs are just so great that we readers will put up with just about anything to read them! [:'(]

What operating system are you using?

I am a wide screen poster.

Sorry.

I would shrink to size if I could do it in 2 or 3 seconds.

Alas I only have so much time to fiddle.[;)]

actually, someone or Microsoft should invent a side ways scroll on the mouse besides the up and down .

Snipping Tool let's you do just that, which is why I recommend it.
I use it in work quite a lot. I have a screenshot made and pasted into a business email in a couple seconds, as opposed to the old way of having to open a graphical program like Paint to work the screenshot just taken with the Print Screen button.

i'm just glad and happy to read and see others enjoying what they play, so thanks to all for making them[&o]

I've tried resizing pics in the past but for some reason I don't understand they are still huge when posted into the aar. It actually made things worse because they were then grainy and huge.

lots of ways to do it but i use irfanview (its free), http://www.irfanview.com/

press the windows print screen button to get a screenshot
open irfanview
ctrl-V to paste in your screenshot
drag a box around the bit you want to keep
then go to "edit" and "cut area outside of selection"
save as .jpg

Maybe I am alone with that view but i prefer to have the full picture because it contains all the Information-trucks, APs, weather and what is happening somewhere else.
Scrolling to the side with the arrow keys or zooming in/out with the mouse wheel/Ctrl is easy and does not bother me.
Best way of course is what MichaelT is doing: Make one big picture of the entire frontline out of the many screen.

AAR also can take a lot of time so there is always a tradeof to do between time and readability&organisation display.

I'll stop going on about it after this, but if you have windows, please give snipping tool a try. It makes for faster posting and better readability. No trade off involved... Just make your screeny and hit the save button.

Thanks for the tool, definitely worth a try.
