It may not resolve the issue but if creating new toe units in the Murmansk factory area try creating them in a hex near the factory, but not in the factory hex itself.

I will look into this when I return and run some play tests to pin down the cause.

RufusTFirefly -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/11/2016 10:18:37 PM)

Played second turn in our multiplayer game (Falco, Larry, Rufus). Although at first turn Germany and Russia were at war, at second turn they were not. Had to DoW again.

Twotribes -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/11/2016 10:36:34 PM)

You can not declare war on the first turn it is a faux turn.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/11/2016 11:47:00 PM)

May 1941 is primarily for allowing Regimes to set up their production and design toes if they wish to use them.

Twotribes is correct. Germany and Russia are not at war when the game begins in May 1941. Because all Regimes start May with only 50PP, they are unable to make any DOWs in May.

In the June 1941 turn the individual Axis powers have enough PPs to declare war on Russia and they should do so in order to take advantage of the poor readiness of the Russian forces.

RufusTFirefly -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/12/2016 7:37:46 PM)

My mistake.
I was talking about turn 3.

First turn: Preparations, second turn: first turn of action. In this turn I declared war on SU and attacked. But only Germany, without SS, Axis minors and Finland declared war.
At turn 3 Germany had to DoW on SU again.

@ icym: If you send your email adress by PM I can send an invitation to the dropbox folder and my password. Then you can try the German turn 3 yourself. Maybe this helps.

PM sent.

How you play game turn 3 when I have not played game turn 2 yet?????

LJBurstyn -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/12/2016 11:22:52 PM)

Ugh....My Siberian Gun Factory produces Russian Guns...thought this had been fixed.
I scorched earth a city but did not get a chance to rebuild elsewhere...it would be nice if I could do this to more than one city per turn. (Got to reread the manual maybe I did wrong thing or did not read...oww my poor eyes.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/13/2016 12:55:08 AM)

I thought it was fixed too.

Is the game being played version 1b or 1c?

I tested version 1c - the latest released version - playing just Britain and Russia.

I played (quickly) through to the August turn and the Siberian gun factory produced Siberian guns for me.

The problem was corrected (I thought) by setting the people in the Siberian factory to Siberian at the start of each Russian turn. If you look at the factory in say the British turn (as I did) it will show it has Russian people. A new event at the start of each Russian turn resets the people to Siberian and that event appears to be working.

If this is different to what you are experiencing, I can modify the event that puts people into conquered factories around the map so it doesn't change that Siberian factory. The event that I added occurs after the conquered factory event so it should override it, but if you are getting different results, there must be something I am missing.

The scorched earth card reduces the structural points of locations. Factories can be destroyed, any location that can't be destroyed in the game by engineers will remain on the map, although likely with 0 structural points. The exception is the industrial centre near Moscow. That can't be destroyed by engineers but it can be destroyed by playing a scorched earth card on it. If that is done, you will receive another action card allowing it to be rebuilt in a safer location.

In play I found I could destroy or damage most Russian locations before the Germans captured them. I didn't allow using the scorched earth card more than once as I thought it would make it too easy for the Russians to deny the Germans the chance of ever capturing an intact city. The close factory card is good for removing air, gun, armour, truck factories and shipyards that are in danger of being over-run. You need to have 20 engineers in the factory location for it to work though.

My eyes are not that great either. If you find the pdf of the manual a bit hard to read, I can send the manual in Microsoft word format which is clearer and sharper.

LJBurstyn -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/13/2016 2:13:48 AM)

Reread the portion of the manual that talks about scorched earth....only industrial centers can be rebuilt...DARN.

<EDIT> I have version 1c but I'm not sure what version we started with as that is under control of the first player.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/13/2016 4:09:49 AM)

If you wanted to check the version for the current game, click on the statistics button, then on the 'Brief' tab.

The version number is shown up near the top of the 'About' tab.

RufusTFirefly -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/13/2016 6:12:22 PM)

Game was started with right version: 1c.

Twotribes -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/17/2016 7:09:53 PM)

Paratroop heavy does NOT appear on the TOandE list.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (10/18/2016 12:12:41 AM)

Heavy paratrooper error confirmed and the cause identified.

In previous playtests, most players preferred not to use the TOandE so it is possible there could be an error or two lurking there somewhere.

Sorry for the inconvenience, this will be fixed in the next version. I will also recheck the relevant value for all SFTypes.

Thank you for reporting.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (11/10/2016 8:48:30 PM)

The next update has yet been released, as a 3 player PBEM is already underway with version 1c and I am playing the Allies and Russia in a 2 player game (which occupies a lot of my free time!).

Changes to the next version will be refinements and minor fixes and will not fundamentally change the scenario, so version 1c remains a good representation of how the scenario plays.

In an earlier playtest, ernieschwitz made the suggestion that diplomatic options could be added for Spain, allowing it to be influenced by Germany and Britain. I have done preliminary work on this and it will probably make it into a future version. In my current game, Germany invaded Spain in 1941 and that has proved a headache for Britain, to put it mildly.

I realize the size of this scenario can be somewhat overwhelming and am adding a "How to play" section to the rule book. The “Guide for Players” should then actually live up to its name.

The new chapter will provide hints on how to best approach the play of each regime and give an insight into using the scenario's options to best advantage. It will not be required reading but it should help players get off to a good start and avoid making unforced errors. The updated Guide will be included as part of the next version update.

As always, suggestions are welcome.

LJBurstyn -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (11/11/2016 12:09:55 PM)

When I was younger (just a teenager) I got involved in war games (remember Avalon Hill). Played in a game that required the use of half my family's basement (Jutland). Later after college I worked for SSPO (Navy's Strategic Systems Project Office) for several years and was allowed to play in a Naval College war game (a real treat) because I had the necessary clearances and lived next to one of the guys that was in the command structure of the War College. So I've played war games for almost 60 years.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (11/11/2016 6:47:34 PM)

You have a decade of war gaming experience up on me! My first monster game was Drang Nach Osten. I played around with it, rather than actually played it (not enough space). World in Flames was the one large game I played quite a lot.

I guess my liking of big games plus a tolerance for micromanagement is reflected in the Triumph scenario. Achieving historically correct OOBs was simply too big a job for me to undertake, so I hope players with a military background, like yourself, can overlook that aspect and enjoy the game for what it is.

In an early post in the AAR forum you mentioned there were a few unit types lacking appropriate NATO symbols. I am taking out the three country flags that incorrectly appear in the NATO symbol screen. (I can do this without messing up the symbols used in already created TO&Es.) If there are any NATO graphics you think should be included let me know and I'll add them in (although I will only have room for three new ones).

Twotribes -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (11/11/2016 8:25:28 PM)

There is no NATO graphic for Horse Artillery?

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (11/11/2016 9:51:57 PM)

OK, I can add that one to the list.

bwheatley -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (12/3/2016 6:17:19 PM)

I'm glad someone found use of the majority of the Europe map I made, right on!

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (12/3/2016 11:44:35 PM)

Thank you for noticing my effort.

Your massive European map was an inspiration but since I enjoy making maps mine was drawn from scratch.

I wouldn't like to borrow something without acknowledging it in the game [:)]

IckieStickie -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (12/30/2016 2:18:34 PM)

Icym,im blown away by this,I would absolutely love to see this as a fully fledged working game on its own!and i'd pay good money for it too, along with that lovely booklet or the PDF.Either one looks great.I wish you well on this project and it's future.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (12/30/2016 9:42:26 PM)

Thank you for the kind comments.

There will be a new version in early 2017 with a few fixes and new features. At this point changes to the game will not be anything dramatic, more a process of refinement than reinvention.

Twotribes -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (12/31/2016 1:31:22 AM)

I have found that once a mod is done that it gets "tweeked" till it is ruined. Everyone, including me of course start asking for changes and eventually the mod is nothing like it was originally.

icym -> RE: Triumph of the Reich Scenario (12/31/2016 1:58:05 AM)

Good point. I will be keeping a tight reign on any such impulse.

There are no plans to make any substantial changes. It has turned out pretty much how I wanted it to be.

Fixing any bugs that come to light is first priority. Apart from that, the dozen or so tweaks made to the upcoming version are relatively minor and would probably pass by unnoticed unless they were pointed out.
