Playing Guadalcanal, I'm newbie in naval warfare: I've just played Barbarrossa before.

I have two main doubts.

1.- Japan has placed five aircraft carriers in section 3 of the naval area of the Bay of Bengal. Start a new impulse, the weather is fine and the carriers are organized, so I hope Japan can attack a british fleet anchored in the port of Trincomalee (Ceylon), adjacent to the Bay of Bengal.

But there is no option to attack: MWIF not open the attack phase port for the Japanese player, who has chosen a combined action.

I play without carrier plane units option.

Why can't japanese CV planes attack Trincomalee? According to 14.4 RAC, "A carrier plane can fly, and return from, a port attack mission that is out of range, if the port is adjacent to any hexdot in the sea area"

2.- RAC says at 14.4 that "In 1942 and 1943, add 1 to the air component of every CV. In 1944 and later, add 2..." Does it really works, with no carrier planes option? I play with 2.2.7 version and it doesn't seem ok.

I have no idea why you could not port strike. It sounds to me like you should have been able to.

I have always used CVPs myself, but I have seen after action reports from players who don't, and their carrier values are increased.

What are your carrier values? Is the Enterprise a four or a five? If it is a five, its value has been increased.

I just took a look at your game. All the carriers have had their air component increased by one, so that, at least, is working properly.

Thanks a lot, Courtenay.

Now I understand that I misread the rule. I thought the printed, visible CV factor did not change, so you had to add 1 or 2 points to the corresponding factors of the carrier planes. In fact, the rule says "add 1", no "1 is added" ... Anyway, my English is too poor to judge about the writing style of the RAC.

Otherwise, I continue trying unsuccessfully to make those japo planes attack that port...

That bug has been put forward to Steve for fixing.
