solca -> Linux/SteamOS support (9/5/2016 10:18:37 PM)

Hi!

Any plans on developing Command into something more platform agnostic so we Linux/SteamOS/MacOS/others users will enjoy too?

Thank you!

+1 [:)]

Thanks, before posting I already read those threads.

My question is if there are plans on developing for Linux natively.

thewood1 -> RE: Linux/SteamOS support (9/5/2016 10:51:41 PM)

The answer is in there by not being in there. The devs did one response and then ignored it. Doesn't that tell you? I they would have jumped all over those threads if there were even a hint of a plan. I suspect that the Linux wargamer market is so small, that without a sugardaddy (government), it most likely won't happen.

Consider buying a low end/ low cost Windows 10 laptop dedicated to Command. It's fine on my 2 year old Dell w/o a video card. Hook it up to a nice monitor - bingo - a simulated war room. Fridge with adult beverages: optional [:D].

Not giving up on running this pearl in Linux I think I'm very close to fully succeed, it runs with latest CrossOver (comercial Wine) after manually installing lots of libraries.

solca -> RE: Linux/SteamOS support (9/13/2016 5:52:25 PM)

Sadly some parts like the world sphere are not rendering, it seems I'm missing some drawing libraries, if somebody knows please help.

(I have screenshots but I can't post links yet)

For the record the manually installed libraries are

* MS ADO Entity Framework 4_1
* MS MDAC 2_8 SP1
* MS JET 4_9 SP 8
* MS Framework 2
* MS Framework 4
* MS Framework 4 Extended
* MS Rich Edit 2
* MS Rich Edit 4_1
* MS Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Runtime
* MSLS31

Direct X?

Mike

solca -> RE: Linux/SteamOS support (9/13/2016 6:44:54 PM)

It seems to be installed but not showing up in the list, will check...

solca -> RE: Linux/SteamOS support (9/13/2016 7:21:56 PM)

Yes, Direct X it is installed. I'm emulating Windows XP under CrossOver (wine).

The game runs fine except for some lines that are not drawing like the outer circle of world sphere and some other lines.

I'm pretty sure I'm missing some lines drawing library apart from Direct X.

Could you please check your runtime requirements? maybe in the Steam store or somewhere else...

Thanks!

We actually don't really support Command on Linux if you want to get down to it. Anything we do is out of a desire to help.

Try both the x64 and x86 MS Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Runtime
