MrKane -> Battle of South sea - MrKane(A) vs DmitryZ(J) (9/25/2016 10:13:00 PM)

As my game with KenchiSulla is progressing quite slow and is still not very exiting. yet( I am the one who is definitely guilty of this situation. I did not recovery fully at that time and I was not ready yet to start a new game. )

And here is story of my 3rd game, playing on allied side against very very aggressive opponent. Before this game I was convinced that I am very aggressive player, now I am sure that I am just little aggressive player. ;)

MrKane -> RE: Battle of Narbada River - MrKane(A) vs DmitryZ(J) (9/25/2016 10:13:40 PM)

Background:
Well, is July 19, 1942 I was receiving very hard beating till now. I lost Lexington, all Australian navy and half of US cruisers were sunk near Suva in ambush. 24th US Division was lost with the island too. My opponent next took New Zeeland and I am holding now only Australia, Hawaii and Tahiti. Next He took Ceylon and landed in India. I am holding now there just Bombay, Calcutta and line along Narbada River.
China is still holding however end is very near.
Additionally I have lost Wasp to Japanese sub L. On other hand my Intel rapports are suggest I have sunk Akagi and Kaga plus 2 CA, 9 DD and a lot of civilian ships.

Right now I have just started my first counter-offensive in India.
Japanese player after very bloody attack on Bombay moved his main forces to capture Calcutta where he is getting bloody nose again right now. This provide me opportunity to start major offensive into huge gap between his forces in Bombay and Calcutta.

MrKane -> RE: Battle of Narbada River - MrKane(A) vs DmitryZ(J) (9/27/2016 3:09:34 AM)

25-27 July 1942

Submarine activity:

25th July:
- SS KXVII is located by SC Ch 19,
- SS Drum launches 4 torpedoes at DD Amatsukaze,
- SS KXVIII launches 2 torpedoes at DD Oshio, DD Oshio, Torpedo hits 1, on fire, heavy damage,

26th July:
- SS Growler launches 2 torpedoes at SC Ch 16, SC Ch 16, Torpedo hits 1, heavy damage
- SS Seawolf launches 2 torpedoes at xAK Daijukyo Maru
- SS Spearfish launches 2 torpedoes at xAK Yae Maru
- SS S-35 launches 2 torpedoes at TK Kaizyo Maru, TK Kaizyo Maru, Torpedo hits 1
- SS S-35 launches 4 torpedoes at TK Kaizyo Maru
- SS Triton launches 2 torpedoes at DD Isokaze

27th July:
- SS Trout launches 4 torpedoes at DD Arashi,
- SS Trout launches 4 torpedoes at DD Hagikaze,
- SS Cachalot launches 2 torpedoes at xAK Boston Maru,

India:

Dimity has started series of bombers raids aiming to slow down progress of my armoured units east of Bombay. It cost him over 20 planes without results but he still repeat those attacks.

258th and 17th RAF squadrons are continue sweeping Poona AF, both squadrons scored over 200 enemy fighters since 11th July. Zeros and Oscars are completely outmatched by Spitfires Mark 8. Additionally 19th BG has destroyed 30-50 planes on ground.

Seeing Japanese forces leaving Bombay towards north I ordered launch attack against those units on 26th, well it did not went well, by mistake I have send only 2 divisions out of 3 and now I have 300 squads disabled. This attack however has slowdown his forces and it seems that Patiala Lancer Regiment will be able open connection to Bombay at 28th or 29th.

Now I have bigger problem, Mitchell PR from 3rd PRU RAF has reported a new troops at Poona moving north. Estimated total number is just over 33K, so I ordered one extra recon flight to this location on 29th to confirm numbers and directions. 3rd Carabineers Regiment will cut of railway south of city at 29th, one or two more days later my armoured spearhead will arrive there too. It is followed by 51st Highland Division next by 10th and 8th Division and next by 31st Armoured Division. I just hope it will be enough to take airbase and close encirclement from south.

Japanese forces at Nagpur are moving east now, I can only suspect that he is trying rescue encircled 3 IJA Divisions( yes to my surprise there are 3 divisions not just 2) east of Jubbulpore. All 3 divisions are moving south-east now. I am afraid that one British Brigade and small infantry battalions will fail to hold them, even it is river crossing in jungle and rough terrain.

Good news is that 307th BG has arrived to India plus 308thBG and 30th BG are just one day from Karachi. With 19th BG this will provide me finally real ability to influence my operations in India.

China:

My opponent is continuing unsuccessful attacks against my position west of Chihkiang, however it seems to me that I will need move back one hex there because of his flanking move from north.

Jellicoe -> RE: Battle of Narbada River - MrKane(A) vs DmitryZ(J) (9/27/2016 1:41:23 PM)

Quick question Mr. K

Has the India advance given the special reinforcements as well as the extra reinforcements you have presumably received from the invasion of NZ?

When you get the Spitfire VIII do you get a finite amount until they would otherwise have become available in the normal timeline or does it mean production of replacements is opened early?

He has activated India and NZ emergency reinforcements. Some are very powerful filled with '43 and '44 squadrons and experience close to 80. Most of my other Divisions are filled up 25% TOE. So they job is just to show on radar big numbers to get my opponent attention. All good units are in XXI Indian Corp moving to end siege of Bombay.
I have got just 60 Spitfires Mark VIII and that is all, no change in airframes availability timeline change.
But they are great at this point, My exchange ratio till now is great, 228 enemy fighters for 6 Spitfires.

MrKane -> RE: Battle of Narbada River - MrKane(A) vs DmitryZ(J) (9/27/2016 5:55:13 PM)

27-29 July 1942

Submarine activity:

27th July:

- SS Trout launches 4 torpedoes at DD Arashi,
- SS Trout launches 4 torpedoes at DD Hagikaze,
- SS Cachalot launches 2 torpedoes at xAK Boston Maru,

28th July:

- SS Stingray launches 4 torpedoes at AMC Aikoku Maru,
- SS Trout launches 2 torpedoes at DD Hagikaze,
- SS Trigger launches 4 torpedoes at DD Isokaze,
- SS Stingray launches 4 torpedoes at AMC Aikoku Maru,
- SS Grampus launches 4 torpedoes at DD Uzuki,
- SS Shark launches 4 torpedoes at AMC Aikoku Maru,

29th July:

- SS Pollack launches 2 torpedoes at TK Nihon Maru,
- SS Flying Fish attacking on the surface, xAKL Hinode Maru, Shell hits 6

India:

!!!FAIL!!! - Recon flights over Poona has confirmed large growing forces in area(over 70K now), now it is confirmed they are started moving to intercept advancing XXI India corp. It looks like I need stop advances and start moving back 40-80 miles and dig in closer to my airbases. Hurricanes range is to short cover all LCUs in area.

Karachi was visited by Japanese navy squadron on night 28/29th. Good for me that I have stopped convoy with 308th and 30th BG on board, now convoy.

254th and 255th Armoured Brigades are retreating north after skirmish 5th IJA Grd. Tank Division.

Japanese forces around Nagpur are now heading north, it seems to me that he want cross river at Jubbupore. Crossing is defended by weak 14th Indian Division, I hope that reinforcements(11th Indian Division and British Anti-Tank artillery regiment) will arrive on time.

In air we still are exchanging raids. Japan has lost next 50-70 planes during last 3 dys, allied losses are limited to a few bombers lost due crash landing and 2 Spits to A6M2 over Poona AF. But it Japanese side is easily covering loses. I am noticed increase activity and growing numbers of Ki-44 in over Bombay and Poona.

China

No change, He is still trying to break west and still without success.

Congratulations on your air victories!
He must be doing some things wrong to hand you those lopsided results.

I noticed in one of your sweeps at 30,000' the combat report said the defenders were patrolling on CAP at only 15,000'. He needs some high flyers to battle your sweeps as well as the mid level flyers to intercept bombers.

Having 590 aircraft on one airfield is dangerous if he sends in his BBs to bombard. Can some be dispersed to nearby fields?

Congratulations on your air victories!
He must be doing some things wrong to hand you those lopsided results.

I noticed in one of your sweeps at 30,000' the combat report said the defenders were patrolling on CAP at only 15,000'. He needs some high flyers to battle your sweeps as well as the mid level flyers to intercept bombers.

Not so much his wrong doing. He is simply outmatch, there is very little you can do to fight off high altitude sweep of Spitfire Mark 8 using A6M2, Ki-43Ic and a few Ki-44a.
This is what he is against:

Having 590 aircraft on one airfield is dangerous if he sends in his BBs to bombard. Can some be dispersed to nearby fields?

True, this are invasion forces to be loaded and send to NZ. Bad timing :(. Bombers are already on ships sailing off.
My carriers are nearby, so it can be interesting week.

I am guessing that those IJN TFs that sat still for a turn were refuelling or are waiting for KB to close Tahiti's airfield.

Swap out those 60 xp guys and bring your best aces in, you don't want average joes to handle those precious airframes and lose them for inexperience

Great results on the air combat near Tahiti ... but it looks like the Japanese battleships are approaching for a bombardment next ... likely very bad if they succeed. You were right; this Japanese player is VERY aggressive!! [X(]

Well I still do not have turn. So, base on combat replay it looks like Yorktown is gone, on his side 3 CVL and CV are eliminated or disabled. So I have still two flattops and he has 2-3 in north group, however he does not have more than 50% planes in hangars due to losses over Tahiti. No clue what to do :(
