BlueAndGray -> Losses screen question/issues? (10/4/2016 4:10:40 PM)

I'm having trouble figuring out how to reconcile the Ground Losses screen with what the battle locator numbers show for the AI turn. There were only 7 battles (it was a mud turn with only the AI attacking) and if I total up all of the individual fights the Axis should have losses of 2,078 men and the Soviets should have 5,548. Instead the Ground Losses screen shows Axis having 6,363 Men Killed and 317 captured for a grand total of 6,680 men lost on the Axis side. OK, I know that there are supposed to be some attrition casualties for units that are on the front line, but then I took a look at the Soviet casualties and it doesn't add up. Soviets took 5,548 men 'Lost' from the battle screens and on the Ground Losses screen they have 2,782 killed and 0 captured.

So net difference between the the Ground Losses screen and the combat detail screens for the Axis is plus 4,602 men and for the Soviets it is negative 2,766. This is driving me bonkers - What am I missing here? I thought 'LOST' would be the simple sum of killed plus captured (with some lost from front line attrition added in).

Here are the individual battle listings from using the Battle Locator (F11) - these are the 'LOST' values (not including the 'DAM' numbers since I'm assuming that means wounded and I'm just trying to verify killed for now). I cross-checked that with the Commanders Report -> Battles tab to make sure I didn't miss any battles.
Loc . . Axis . .Soviet
71,46 . 425 . . 1323
71,46 . 410 . . 752
70,65 . 171 . . 1179
57,71 . 116 . . 337
57,72 . 261 . . 431
52,82 . 390 . . 656
67, 104 305 . . 870
. . . . 2078 . .5548

Only the total value is accurate. Losses in battle are counted as sum of men from destroyed elements. Actual number of men killed is different, as some are disabled. The same happens with men from damaged elements. Losses in battle are just rough approximation, though it will be more accurate with next patch.

You can compare recent column with just finished battle report. You will see the difference.

Let me put it this way - the battle locator said the Axis has taken casualties in a 1:2.5 ratio (2078:5548). The Losses screen says the Axis has taken casualties in a 2.5:1 ratio (6680:2782). These damage ratios are almost dead opposite of each other. This isn't just a rough approximation rounding error - this is the difference between kicking someone's butt and getting your own butt kicked.

The recent column shows all zeros - see the screenshot. This is the losses screen that is automatically shown once I get control back after the AI side's move.

Yes, you can only use recent for battles you make, during your turn. Next version will be more accurate. If you check after AI turn you must remember attrition is significant and increases losses a lot.

By more accurate do you mean I will actually be able to tell who won? I really need the ratios flipping from 1:2.5 over to 2.5:1 to make sense - this can't just be a rounding error and is showing me a drastically different picture of who won. Given that every single one of the AI (Soviet) attacks on this turn ended in a decisive loss for the AI how does the AI show up on top for kills? Does attrition only show up against me and never against the enemy's damage numbers?

Substract this turn totals from last turn totals for both sides to get accurate picture. Soviet losses during attrition phase are not visible to you in any other way than in those totals.

Thank you for the response, but this just tells me the reports are pretty much junk... :(
