After 20 or so turns (after downloading the two latest updates the slowdown occurs a little later...but ultimately the same) the game slows down so that each AI turn takes up to 2 hours. Most of that time the game is "not responding". I sent the game to my nephew, who is very experienced and has a gaming computer, and the same thing happened to him. He then shared with some of his friends...same thing. What's going on??

Length of AI turns vary a lot with the number of units. Soviet AI is slowest in 1942, when there is a lot of brigades and divisions. Also, the way the game is built, it's prone to say "not responding" during AI turns, because the main application thread is busy calculating moves and is not responding to operating system window events. But rest assured it's doing its job.

Hi Bob,

You need a much faster computer to play this game v ai. The ai turns take much longer than 2 hrs, some circumstances, if your computer has the minimum system requirements.

It doesn't matters mucho how fast your computer is, as the game engine doesn't seems to benefit from multiple cores.

2-hours AI turns for 1942 clear weather turns are a realiry you will need to live with. Situation gets better as you hit the snow turns of 1942 (less MP, less calculations to make). Situation improves in 1943 and 1944 when AI turns revert back to 1941-length.

Only uses one core, need fast processor. Even with fast processor may take 2+ hours.

Denniss -> RE: GGWIE: Not Responding (10/24/2016 12:34:02 AM)

It may improve a bit of you use the taskmanager and assign just one processor core to the game, ideally the highest numbered Core (On Intel CPU with Hyper-Threading or AMD Bulldozer-derived CPUs it's the second highest numbered Core).

I have an Asus G11 with an i5 processor...so pretty fast. Who designs a game where a fast processor takes 2 hours for a turn?

morvael -> RE: GGWIE: Not Responding (10/25/2016 12:28:52 PM)

Interesting observation: '42 AI turns take at most 30 minutes on my laptop's i7 (should be weaker than desktop i5).

I'm not sure all people complaining about long turns have their message level set to 0 or 1, and low message delay. With high message level and high message delay turns may take days...

IvanShuski -> RE: GGWIE: Not Responding (10/28/2016 9:52:51 PM)

Zero on message level and message delay, of course.

charlie0311 -> RE: GGWIE: Not Responding (10/28/2016 10:28:19 PM)

Hi Ivan,

I can fix this for you. Too long to type out now, server times out.

PM me.:)

morvael -> RE: GGWIE: Not Responding (10/29/2016 8:30:25 PM)

We'll see if with next patch this will be faster, there were some optimizations made.

What are you doing with the computer while WitE is making its turn?

Hagar -> RE: GGWIE: Not Responding (10/30/2016 5:03:42 AM)

Speaking of which - any ballpark figure on when the new patch will be available? There's some imagery rework tied to it. :)

morvael -> RE: GGWIE: Not Responding (10/30/2016 7:08:15 AM)

It's out of my hands now.
