Steam COH crashed after start. The advice from Vpaulus to run the game as an administrator did not work.
Do you hgave any further advice to start the game. (win 10 x64)

Please try the following:

1. Open the game installation folder and find the following folder:
....\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010
Find a file named DXSETUP.exe and run it.

2. Open the game installation folder and find the following folder:
...\_CommonRedist\XNA\3.1
Find a file named xnafx31_redist.msi and run it.


Run the game after having installed these and check if the issue is persisting, if you receive the exact same message.

Hello VPaulus!

Thank you for your second advice but the game doesn#t work after refreshing the librairies. Same Message "Conflict of heroes funktioniert nicht mehr. Es wird nach einer Lösung für das Problem gesucht "
Then the start screen appears again every time i press the play or editor button. The same in med and low res.
Silly windows, it won't let the game work.

What can i else do?

Could you please attach a DxDiag report file to your message?

How to get a DxDiag report file:

1. Click on "START" (on Windows 8/10 press “Windows key” and the “R” key at the same time)
2. Click "run" (skip this step on Windows 8/10)
3. Type in "dxdiag" and click "OK"
4. Check through the tabs and perform all tests
5. Click "Save all Information..." and save the text file to a location of your choice
6. Attach the file to your message

Where is the game installed? Which path?

I had a problem that looked like this on one of our Windows 10 test machines. I don't know whether this is the same as your problem. In my case the .NET 3.5 Framework came installed on the machine but by default on Windows 10 it was not "enabled." Installing it again with the installer did not enable it -- I had to turn it on in "Programs and Features." This article tells how to do that:

Please make sure that ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)" is turned on.

thank you both,

I tried the workaround as described, net framework was enabled, so the workaround was no solution.

the game is installed on drive d: (D:\Programme_fast\Steam\steamapps). Drive d: is my ssd for fast applications. System drive is drive c:, also ssd.

I want to avoid a fresh win 10 install, because i live in broadband germany with only a 6 mbit connection.
My phone is faster, but has the wrong os...[:D]

Please try to disable all background programs in case these are interfering with the normal running of the game.
You can do this by running msconfig and disabling all non-windows start-up programs and services (except those related with Steam).
Then once you have disabled all non-Microsoft services, please run the game and see if the issue persists.
If it does not, please then reopen msconfig and reenable those services, one by one, until you find the program causing the problem.

I did the long way and installed an old backup. Now the game is working perfect. Very nice game.
I guess there was something wrong with the net framework librairies. I remember I had an issue this summer with an faile installation of the net framework.
In the web there are workarounds for reinstalling und activation, but this did not work for me. Enough try and error, so i did the reinstall.
