AlbertoC -> Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack! (11/15/2016 3:10:58 PM)

Today we have some news for all Order of Battle fans out there. If you are missing any of the packs set in the Pacific theater, then this is your chance to get them.

We are releasing an Order of Battle: Pacific Pack on Steam, containing U.S. Pacific, U.S. Marines, Rising Sun and Morning Sun, all at a great 40% off discount!

It is a complete your set bundle, meaning that you don't get to pay for items you already own. For instance, if you already U.S. Pacific and Rising Sun you can get the bundle and only pay for U.S. Marines and Morning Sun - at 40% off!

The base game, Order of Battle: World War II, is free to play. You're free to download it and try it for free - you'll get access to the boot camp and the first mission of every campaign which was released.

If I buy the missing Keys here , are these also STEAM KEYS ? As I own my other parts only in Steam ...

zakblood -> RE: Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack! (11/17/2016 3:04:43 PM)

yes, but any game here, if it's on steam also, you either auto get the steam key of go into your account page and get a steam key for it

How does this "complete your set" offer work between Matrix and Steam?

I purchased 2 OOB titles from Matrix, registered SNs, and downloaded installation executables. (Those installers are nice- I can manage my own file system locations and disc rebuilds.)

Your link takes us to the Steam site. The Steam interface does not recognize my Matrix SNs, and wants to sell me the entire 4 piece Pacific Pack. (I'm waiting on a support ticket with Steam to see how that goes.)

Assuming it's possible to purchase just the missing titles, there will be another Steam wrinkle. Their delivery system seems to auto-install games in it's own file system hierarchy, and there are no discrete installers to archive or back up.

Does anyone have any experience managing this DLC issue for OOB with these products and vendors? My preference is to stay away from Steam and enjoy Matrix...

I believe the Matrix and Steam Keys are different, you'll need to generate your Steam keys via this http://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=72513 I think the pack is only available via Steam.

Erik2 -> RE: Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack! (1/12/2017 12:32:32 PM)

I got Steam keys for several of my games and tried running them from the Steam installations.
I eventually unistalled them all and got back to my Slitherine/Matrix versions, much for the same reasons you state.
I also find the Slitherine/Matrix forums much nicer places to discuss stuff.
There seems to be more general gamers on Steam, not WWII (or other period) players.

Thank you for the replies. As Wolfe points out, the Matrix keys are different, and there's a techtip describing how to generate and register the corresponding Steam keys. I'm confident the Steam interface would then recognize my installed products and offer the advertised discount for the missing items.

Some of my Matrix purchases were only deliverable via "Get It on Steam". Steam provides third party product keys for some of these titles, but not others. As Erik relays, when the Steam 3rd party key is provided for a title, the title can then be registered with Matrix. That enables downloading a discrete installer from Matrix (I LIKE IT).

Steam support told me they will not provide 3rd party product keys for the items in an OOB: Pacific Pack.

I plan on skipping any offers forcing me on to Steam and purchasing my outstanding OOB titles from Matrix.

The only game that's is exclusive to Steam is "Sovereignty: Crown of Kings".
And even this one, is only exclusive until the end of the Early Access phase.
When the Earlier Access phase ends, we will release a non Steam edition.
All the games can be bought from our store. Just press the button "BUY NOW" in the game product's page.

jakemon -> RE: Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack! (1/21/2017 3:12:24 PM)

VPaulus is correct. My notes show I had made the purchases in question a year ago directly on Steam. My apologies for adding confusion, and my thanks for the clarifications.

For those of you still on the fence, the Order of Battle series is quite enjoyable and well worth the price. Matrix support is head and shoulders above Steam support- one more reason to buy from Matrix.

Simulacra53 -> RE: Order of Battle gets a Pacific Pack! (4/22/2017 6:30:02 AM)

Knock on wood, but I haven't had any issues with moving games from Matrix/Slitherine to Steam.

The only thing that isn't possible, it is to register Steam bought games at Matrix/Slitherine.
That's not the end of the world, but I bought some games on Steam that I'd like to register to be complete.
