Congratulations on the work done so far - just one thing on the pop ups. Text is not easily readable when you put an image behind it. I'd recommend keep the background image very plain to aid readability.

A few stumbling blocks...

Trying to add 2 new units to represent the Wasserfal SAM and the Seehund mini-sub. From what I understand the only way to introduce new units it to modify an older unused one.

The problems are whenever you click on one of them it gives their original name, which is confusing. Is their anyway to change the unit type as well as the characteristics and bitmap?

Is there a better way to add units?

I need the Seehund to have a very limited range. Is there some way, that I can't find, to accomplish this?

The Wasserfal seems to be working fine...don't come near it with a Strategic Bomber unit. [;)]

Hi

The names of the unit types are governed by the game's localization.txt file. If you have your own then you can change these names, please see section 3.3.2. Customize Your Campaign in the Manual.

As to a naval unit's range, you can reduce their Action Points and you can also make it so that engaging in combat uses up more or less supply.

Supply losses from combat are changed by going to Campaign -> Edit Combat Data. The relevant buttons are a little bit down from the top right.

You've gone to Campaign -> Edit Country Data -> Edit Combat Target Data, whereas you need to go to Campaign -> Edit Combat Data (it's about half way down the list).

I need to give my Wasserfal SAMs an intercept capability like fighters, anti-air and carriers. Currently they just sit there unless attacked specifically.

Is there a way to give this capability to other units?

Only the Anti-Air, Fighter and Carrier slots can intercept enemy air units. Maybe they could be used as Anti-Air units?

Mod almost ready except for...

My mod keeps crashing about 33% of the time when I move the map view near Baku area. Some games not. I've tried different map mods and it seems to not make a difference. Here is error log.

One thing that might be a clue. For some reason the Soviet Oil Resources start out a zero even though I've set them higher. The wierd thing is that they then increase every turn by one until the max is reached. Maybe that's why the game crashes.

Anyone have any idea how the Soviet oil resources are acting so strange?

Is there a RESOURCE script that is firing which gets them to start producing?

That's the only rational explanation for what you're describing with the Oil Resources.

I found the scripts and deleted them. Still with the crashes. Looked at the tiles for the oil resource. 57-60. Most of them are used about the same except for 57. There is only one tile 57 and that is near Baku. This is the area where the game caused the crash.

I replaced that tile and all others with 60. So far no crashes.

It would appear that the culprit is resource tile 57. I'll keep testing.

I assume that the image file itself hasn't been amended and it is as released?

It was happening before I used the "Boardgame Mod" and after. The mod does change the on map bitmap, But as I said for weeks before I was using everything stock and it was happening then.

I filled a map with resource 57 and didn't get any crashes, so it's odd that it's caused an issue in yours but not in mine.

I am just glad that we have more resources of that type so you can work round it for the moment.

Did you put one near Baku? I believe it was the one farthest east.

That was the only change I made and no crashed for a good 20 turns or so testing various scripts etc.

Maybe it's just the placebo effect but as long as it works. [;)]
