10K supply to China is a boon.

Keep up the good work!

Try using stockpiling option at Rangoon and max supply. Then, in few days end it and do same base by base all the way into China. Take into account the roads and trails as it moves along less than daily.

HansBolter -> RE: Mr Kane (J) vs Olorin (A) (12/30/2016 2:15:36 PM)

Those losses appear to be excellent for February.

A sign of a very aggressive defense.

The P40 losses will be impossible to sustain though as the '42 pools are atrocious.

'42 is a balancing act for the Allies.

The aggressiveness of the defense has to be balanced against the limited airframe pools.

Too aggressive and your loss rates may preclude having sufficiently robust pools to be able to go over to the offensive in late '42.

You have to be very judicious about where to fight and how long to sustain the effort.

The arrival of the P40K with 65 airframes per month is really the horizon for the consideration of offensive operations.

Also, something embarrassing to report:

BBs Ramilles and Resolution are out of fuel in the CT entry hex and need 16 days to enter the map.[:D]

BBfanboy -> RE: Mr Kane (J) vs Olorin (A) (12/30/2016 4:09:10 PM)

I think all Allied players have run TFs out of fuel on the IO side of the map in 1941-early 1942. There just is not enough fuel for the amount of shipping that has to move. CT itself is a problem and you will need to run some tankers there from Abadan or EC USA until the monthly emergency convoys can accumulate enough there. Once you have ~ 300K fuel there you should be OK, unless you are using that route to haul most of the supply and fuel for Australia.

I also found I had to haul some fuel to Aden initially but only about 60K tons before it began accumulating on its own. Many of my troop convoys from Aden were run to Abadan to refuel before coming on-map (rather than use Aden's small stocks). The delay for the troop convoys did not seem too much.

Aden is also strapped for supply. If you allow the troop convoys to load supply to fill empty space and get more to the map with the troops you can run it dry quickly.

I typically run some supply there from Abadan.

- Fiji invaded by 1 Japanese division, covered only by two CVs. This is a strange gamble, as the invasion could be easily crashed by my 4 CVs.

Buffalos vs Zeroes? Even with 4 carriers, your strike force would have a tough time making it through.

pontiouspilot -> RE: Mr Kane (J) vs Olorin (A) (1/2/2017 12:28:30 AM)

I'm not as pessimistic and would risk it....BUT I smell a trap...where are the rest???

Anachro -> RE: Mr Kane (J) vs Olorin (A) (1/2/2017 2:01:59 AM)

4 allied CVs (even with buffalos) could definitely sink 2 lone and exposed Jap carriers in my opinion. Try it, but as pontious says, be careful and wary.

What do you have in the way of troops in Fiji? That is the very first place I like to send my SoPac forces - with both Suva and Nadi being able to be built up to level 9 airfields it is the most important location in the SoPac, IMO.

I'd say that most important is Vavau, the only level 6 port in SoPac in Stock map. Will be untenable with Fiji conquered though. Why would big arfields be that important away from Japan and other key strongholds to bomb?
Edit: relatively peaceful area of SoPac meant ofc, Luganville is 6 too

Bif1961 -> RE: Mr Kane (J) vs Olorin (A) (1/3/2017 10:58:37 PM)

The problem with American carrier operations early in the war is their coordination is questionable at best. many times you don't get off a coordinated attack and sometimes not all squadrons fly. With lack of PPs early many don't pay the points t0 upgrade the quality of stock squadron commanders. So though you may outnumber them 2-1, if they have BBs in their TFs and your don't, they may end up being an even fight.

Stringbags, Vilderbeests and Albacores can make a real mess of Japanese ships when they venture outside air cover.

The urge to do as much as possible before the amphib bonus goes can sometimes cost the Japanese dear.

Oi, this is like employing child labor, you merciless you :)
Get them to train Chinese fighter pilots in secondary skills instead somewhere in India. To use later in the war when they get decent airframes and skills. These bombers are not replaceable (edit: in Stock that is, don't know about DaBabes)

With KB minus 2 CVs that far away I know I would be getting up to mischief where they are not with my CVs and maybe more if you still have available BBs. These can be golden opportunities. I believe in making IJN pay elsewhere for their fun in Indian Ocean.
