Hi folks,

there are several things about the editor that are good to know so i thought i share some things i consider interesting or important.

If anyone has questions or his own input you are welcome to contribute to this thread.

We start with a feature we rarely used in Germany at War, but still is handy if you like to simulate a battle.

In the screenshot you can see the box called "Difficulty Preset". With this you can set the rules for a map and force them upon the player. This means he cannot change his resources, or the experience etc.

So if you feel like FoW is needed for your battle, or the enemy should have an overwhelming advantage in experience, this is the menu to go.

Once you have checked the checkboxes, all settings unfold and be adjusted to your needs.

This can also reduce testing time as you only have to be sure it works with your exact setting.

HI map designers,

today a i want to adress a the variables you can use in the editor to make some things easier for your.

In the image below you see that we have variables like {obj0} in the mission text. But what does this mean ?

Above the text is the explanation; {obj0} represents first object in the list the player has to coquer.

So everywhere in the text you use {obj0} the players will see what ever object with whatever name is listed as the first object in the menu "Position of Objects".

In this case it is the town in hex 3594 or "Narewka".

But why would we need this ?

Lets say you mispelled a towns name. You change the name on the map. Then it will be automatically be corrected in all the texts if you used {objx} (x stands for any given number). So if "Narewka" would be renamed into "NewName" on the map it would be shown in the mission goals as "NewName".

Also if you have a change of hearts and think Narewka is too easy to get, i want Bielsk in the list, you simply have to overwrite the number 3594 with 3845 in the list and everwhere you mentioned {obj0} you will read Bielsk instead of Narewka.

Hi folks,

as the question arose here in the forum i will show how you force the player to take a certain side if you have a scenario in which you want e.g. only the Axis to be playable for what ever reason.

Its quite easy and takes only two steps. After you loaded your map into the editor go to the "Sceantio" tab. Under "Difficulty Preset" check "Force Side" like in the image below.

In the next step you got to the "Player" tab, and make sure you check "Prefered for User" only for one side, of course the side you want the player to control.
If you save the scenario and play it in the game, the side should now no longer be selectable and one side is already chosen.

With Germany at War 1.09 comes the ability to give awards to units after a mission.

To do this, you have to enter one of the commands displayed below into the field "Medal", e.g. "Medal_DE_Krimschild".
Without the quotation marks though. From the "="-symbol on you see which text will be shown in the unit history next to the medal.

Medal_DE_Krimschild=Conquest of the Crimea
Medal_DE_Kubanschild=Defense of the Kuban bridgehead
Medal_DE_Lapplandschild=Participant of the Lappland war

#Soviet Union
Medal_SU_Budapest=Conquest of Budapest
Medal_SU_Moscow=Defense of Moscow
Medal_SU_Stalingrad=Defense of Stalingrad
Medal_SU_Caucasus=Defense of the Caucasus
Medal_SU_Vienna=Conquest of Vienna
Medal_SU_Warzaw=Liberation of Warzaw
Medal_SU_Berlin=Conquest of Berlin
