Aksully -> Units' Sizes (11/28/2016 11:30:30 PM)

Question for the Developers;

What are the approximate size represented by:

Fighter icon?
Tactical Bomber icon?
Medium Bomber icon?
Strategic Bomber icon?

Would be very helpful for the above to be added to future manual revisions. Thanks in advance!

PS

Would also like info regarding the size of naval units in the game. It appears that Carriers and Battleships are individual units.

Cruisers may or may not be???

Destroyers probably Squadrons/Flotillas?

Subs-same as above?

Developers please provide us some information regarding overall unit strengths/representation as it bears directly in creating mods using the editor. Thanks in advance.

Not knowing what the developers have intended but regarding the game scale each unit should be an airfleet (Luftflotte). The presentation of differentiated air force units (Fighter, TacBomber, StratBomber, Naval Bomber) tend to point towards an squadron/airwing (Geschwader) [8D]

Thanks Battlefield and that matches what I was thinking too. Given the work and emphasis they put into creating the editor I would have thought they would have mentioned unit sizes in the Part Two of the manual?

Hi Aksully

Air units generally represent a few hundred aircraft, though there are exceptions (e.g. Maritime Bombers in Iceland and Canada) while naval units normally represent a couple of Battleships, increasing in number represented as you move down from Battleship towards Destroyers and Subs. German capital ships are slightly over-represented to reflect the Allies' fear of them as commerce raiders despite their smaller numbers.

There is no exact rule though when it comes to modding as you can design campaigns using the Editor that could either follow the same scale or adopt a totally different one, depending really on what you're trying to achieve. [:)]
