Ok. Thanks for your answer.
I will do it as soon I am home.
I cannot post an URL yet but I will send you a link with a PM.

rodrod -> RE: In game black screen (1/9/2017 7:41:25 PM)

Here it is.
The zip file contains the complete installation directory. It is version 1.00. I used the setup file downloaded from Matrix when I bought the game.

Edit : It was not precautious to post the link on the zip file here. I deleted the share. I will send the link by PM to those who will ask me.

stanfc -> RE: In game black screen (1/30/2017 3:43:30 AM)

Did anyone find an answer to the black screen problem? I haven't played for a couple of months. It used to work fine, but map is black, right side unit display box is blank, but I have menus. I tried launching from windows explorer and it still did not work. Thanks

It used to work fine...

It used to work fine in CSME (or JTCS?), then mysteriously broke at some point? What changed around that time? Did at break with a change in the game version? Or was there some other change? A Windows update maybe? What is your OS?

stanfc -> RE: In game black screen (2/1/2017 3:23:27 AM)

It is working now. I have CSME, in Windows 10 Home edition, and MSI GEFORCE GTX 1060 video card. I think it was related to new video drivers. I had updated my video drivers then rebooted a couple of times and kept getting the black screen. I completely shut down my PC and started it again today and everything worked including going into the game through the launch screen. A question though, I started the Bootcamp 1 scenario and then exited. I looked at the logs and it shows a lot of files that could not be found for example:

engine log:
graphics\leader31.bmp not found thru
graphics\campleader84.bmp not found

in OrderBattle::Read(), OOBs\platoon00.obx not found
in OrderBattle::Read(), OOBs\platoon07.obx not found

frontend log:
in GetPossibleFile(), graphics\ChineseLeaders.bmp not found thru
in GetPossibleFile(), graphics\SwissLeaders.bmp not found

in GetPossibleFile(), graphics\Medals0.bmp not found thru
in GetPossibleFile(), graphics\Medals84.bmp not found

These files are missing from the directories. Is the game looking for files that use to be there, but are no longer used? Should I reinstall? Thanks

berto -> RE: In game black screen (2/1/2017 10:49:38 AM)

Any missing file not marked ERROR is non-essential.

These, for instance:

quote:

in OrderBattle::Read(), OOBs\platoon00.obx not found
in OrderBattle::Read(), OOBs\platoon07.obx not found

There are slots for up to 100 nations. Nations 00 and 07 are not included in ME, so missing platoon##.obx files for those nations is of no consequence.

In general, you should be concerned about ERRORs only. The WARNINGs etc. you (but sometimes not necessarily we) can usually safely ignore.

Glad to hear things are working for you again. Computers are finicky beasts aren't they?

mesquite5 -> RE: In game black screen (4/6/2017 4:54:09 PM)

Well, I bought this game quite awhile ago and only just now actually tried to play the game. I have the same above problem with a black map. tried starting direct from explorer but no go. Has there been a solution to this problem? It's been quite awhile. I have Windows 10 and a Nvidia 1080 card with up to the date drivers.

mesquite5 -> RE: In game black screen (4/6/2017 6:04:32 PM)

Ok I got it to work by going to compatibility and selecting "run as administrator"

berto -> RE: In game black screen (4/7/2017 10:31:50 AM)

Weird. Thanks for posting your fix. It might be helpful to others in future.

armonica -> RE: In game black screen (9/20/2017 12:57:25 AM)

I have the same black screen problem, tried all of the above but nothing worked, except after reinstalling
the game ran ok only the first time.
I reinstalled once more but it didn't work.

Zeotix -> RE: In game black screen (9/20/2017 10:23:16 AM)

What kind of graphics card do you use? Have you updated the drivers or tried individual graphics settings for the game? I had had the same problems in another game, in combination with my nVidia graphics card, it helped to set the settings for the game manually and not play with the global graphics settings.

Please follow the suggested procedure in Post #10:

Instead, please do this:

  • Entirely empty your CSME logs folder.
  • Launch Middle East.exe.
  • Load up the Bootcamp 1 scenario.
  • Verify the black map. The entire screen is not black, just the map, correct?
  • Without doing anything else, immediately quit the game.
  • Quit the Middle East launcher frontend.
  • Zip up what should just be two log files -- engine.log, frontend.log (or possibly three, if also any error.log) -- and post here.

  • armonica -> RE: In game black screen (9/20/2017 10:01:08 PM)

    Yes, just the map is black.
    Attached log files.

    berto -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 3:41:04 AM)

    Thanks for the log files. They don't reveal anything except for the same error (_GameHomeDirectory is some strange gobbledygook #) described here.

    Have you tried the suggestions in both of

  • Post #17 << try this one especially
  • Post #18

  • armonica -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 10:06:15 AM)

    No luck with that either.
    I guess I will try to get a refund or some credit toward buying a different game.

    deltanine94 -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 10:45:53 AM)

    I fixed this by going into NVIDIA Control Panel and Remove the Program Settings for a program associated with CSME.exe under Manage 3D settings. You should see it in the drop down box. Highlight and click remove.

    armonica -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 2:09:57 PM)

    Which program would that be? I can't find any program associated with CSME.exe under Manage 3D settings.

    berto -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 3:34:33 PM)

    I don't believe your black map problem is a video issue. A black map is one symptom of the .scn file failing to load properly.

    You can confirm this by opening up any of the game maps in the memap.exe map editor. You see the maps in edmap, yes?

    Sorry if this is for whatever reason not working for you.

    deltanine94 -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 5:55:19 PM)

    Sorry the program was me.exe not csme.exe. The program profile is caxa 2008. What I did to test was copy me.exe to me_nvidia.exe and run me_nvidia.exe. Noticed I now have graphics. So I used nvidia inspector to edit the profiles. Selected CAXA 2008 and clicked "Remove Application from Current profile.

    armonica -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 6:09:57 PM)

    Deltanine94 I do not have caxa 2008 in the list.

    armonica -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 6:11:47 PM)

    Berto, yes I can see the maps and the units in the editor. Really weird.

    deltanine94 -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 6:16:38 PM)

    Wish I could include a screenshot somehow. You are right you don't see in list I was wrong that is why I had to install nvidia inspector. Try the copy me.exe to me_nvidia.exe and run me_nvidia.exe. If that works it tells you that the fix that worked for me will work for you. It has been awhile and so I tested this morning and with the nvidia driver update my issue came back and so I just ran through it again.

    If you google caxa 2008 me.exe you will see the 4th entry down NVIDIA Profile.txt - TechPowerUp with the description of how I started to figure out how to solve it.

    armonica -> RE: In game black screen (9/21/2017 10:35:46 PM)

    Thanks

    Not really. It is likely not a graphics issue. For some reason, most likely the .scn file is failing to load properly. It could be file corruption, maybe a missing file.

    I don't suppose there is some way you could make available your entire install? [X(] Maybe you have a Dropbox account or something?

    berto -> RE: In game black screen (9/22/2017 12:45:04 AM)

    Wait. There is something else we might try. More tomorrow.

    berto -> RE: In game black screen (9/22/2017 2:54:25 AM)

    Never mind. I thought we might be able to set up more verbose logging, but it seems that is practically impossible in this situation.

    Unless we can somehow get a look at your entire installation, there is nothing more we can do for you. Sorry.

    VPaulus -> RE: In game black screen (9/22/2017 11:12:56 AM)

    I have asked in armonica's tech support ticket, to uninstall the game, create a new Windows administer account and reinstall the game in that account.
    Maybe the issue is related with permissions.

    berto -> RE: In game black screen (9/22/2017 1:03:11 PM)

    Thanks, VPaulus.

    I had thought that maybe I could pass along to armonica a special me.exe with augmented logging capabilities. As it happens, we are not really set up for that for CSME v1.02.

    @armonica: If you are willing to hold out until the release of CSME v2.0 (soon, likely before the end of the year), maybe either (a) the new version will solve this issue for you, or (b) the new version will have these augmented logging capabilities. With the augmented logging capabilities, we can diagnose the issue almost certainly.

    IainMcNeil -> RE: In game black screen (9/22/2017 2:40:34 PM)

    Sorry you are having problems Armonica but this order was placed 2 years ago and you have had extensive use of the game so its not possible to get a refund. We have no DRM and no way to disable it on your machine.
