Hello everyone, I think is time to start building my own scenarios for CMANO, at first I want to keep things simple, but will like to know If is there a tutorial to learn step by step how the things are done in the editor. From the real basics to more advanced things.

My idea at first is to have small scenarios, ideas I have are like controlling an airbase to find and attack a terrorist camp, convoy ASW protection (and attack for the other side), surface combat with few units, etc.

Can somepne please help?? [&o][&o][&o]

You started the editor, added sides and units?

Yes, made sides and added some units, but never made airports with airplanes or stores or designed missions for the sides.

For stock airfields explore in the menu: editor > import/export units > load units...

Or in the menu: editor > unit actions > add unit now click on the map location you want to add a custom single unit airfield. Filter the resulting dialog for the side and country you want and find single unit airfield and select the one you want. A description of the airfield will open up. Close that and click OK.

In both cases, fill the airfield with planes by menu: editor > unit actions > edit aircraft. Now hunt of pick away.

I recommend also: checking both boxes in the "realism settings" which is also under the editor menu.

Select the airfield and now select menu: Unit order > air operation to add load outs to your air craft. I use the Command DB and wiki to learn about the weapons and common load out per era and mission.

Watch the you tube videos with Command open and you will have nice scenario in no time.

Excellent!! I already added my first carrier with aircrafts in in!

Now is time to check videos and practice, one question, how you make a AI follow a mission? I mean for example make the AI subs search for your ships and engage them? or enemy airfields to attack certain locations?

The AI takes over the side of computer player ie the non-human side. It will follow missions, plotted moves (F3 key), and obey the side doctrine. The most basic doctrine are the rules of engagement. Set both sides to "free" for an all out battle. For example, if you set up a anti-surface, ground or air mission for the non human side, and the AI "sees" the enemy, the AI will engage as part of the mission without any other intervention. The AI will fight the human player.

Here is something I did Day One. Take the tutorial "air operation 1983" and play it unitl you win it. Then copy the scenario file, rename it, and start editing the scenaio with differnent platforms and weapon systems aka use it for a proving ground. Pretty soon you will take the learning to a really exciting hot spot like the Gulf or South China Sea.

Small scenarios are the way to go.

Attacking a terrorist camp in my experience tends to be a fairly boring scenario from a play perspective, although it's easy to make them. The problem is that it tends to be fairly one-sided. Consider a relatively air-light expeditionary strike group (ESG). It has so many options for attacking it! They have helicopters and strike aircraft, their escorts have TLAM and 5" naval guns. On the terrorist side, they have little or no naval capability, possibly shore based ASCMs, MANPADS and light AAA. They'll have little or no air support. In short, they can't realistically defend themselves. Once the camp is located, the ESG will pulverize it, possibly from thousands of miles away, without even having to involve SOF or Marines. The only real challenge might be in locating or identifying the target and possibly minimizing collateral damage. There also might be political constraints like who one can overfly. Combat wise they're pretty one sided, though. It'd almost be more fun and challenging to play it from the terrorist side, where you're completely out-gunned and have to hide the duration of the scenario.

ASW and missile boat scenarios tend to be a little more fun to play because the other side can actually shoot back.
