Vic -> Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25b (12/12/2016 1:28:51 PM)

Hi all,

Surprise pre christmas Private Beta!

This beta can only be installed on top of the MATRIX version and not on top of the Steam version.

It can be manually installed on top of the latest 2.21 version.

Download it here:
http://www.vrdesigns.net/privatepatch/PrivateBetaAdvancedTacticsGold225b.zip

1. Rename your current AdvancedTacticsGold.exe to AdvancedTacticsGold_backup.exe

2. Copy the .exe file in the zip to the same directory.

3. Restart game

Now... pay attention this hotfix only works for the MATRIX version and does NOT work for the Steam version.

What does it change?

-Improved Gfx Rendering Speed (toggle on by going to prefs and switching High Gfx Speed on)

-Improved Regime Coloring drawing when you have Regime Coloring AND High Gfx Speed (prefs) on

-Adjusted the AI to be less reckless in attack. ( I could not help my self to improve things a bit after watching DasTactic's ATG youtube)

-Fixed an issue with the AI in new dawn where it ended up with out of command tactical HQs.

-AI reshuffles its best generals to the most important commands now in New Dawn

-Improved inter-front unit redistribution algorithm for AI; it seemed to get a bit too obsessed sometimes. Especially when facing another AI that had the same obsession.

-Viewing TOE enabled units in the statistics screen works now

Best wishes,
Vic

Thanks! Nice update
I do have a question, is there any way to slow dow AI movement? It's hard to keep track of what is going on without using the VCR and clicking frame by frame.

Thanks

Vic -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/13/2016 3:40:18 PM)

Nope sorry there. However there are 10 step buttons and next Attack buttons as well to speed up the process.

I'm looking to slow down the process, so you can interpret what's going on better.
For a future patch, I would like to suggest a movement speed adjustment for both the AI and player, especially the AI, its movement is just too fast.

Hey, Vic just giving you na pat on the shoulder...looks awesome, and thanks for working on the A.I. This game is phenomenal. A 30 plus year gamer here, and I have ATG settled in on the Rushmore of games. My inner general thanks you with much abundance. And I would be honored to have a great time playing the beta!

Tac2i -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/14/2016 1:24:27 AM)

Agreed... This game belongs in the Wargames Hall of Fame. Haven't played it much lately but still my all time favorite.

Jeez Vic, everyone will be blaming me now that the AI is too hard. Lol. [:D]

Cheers

Its just a minor patch. So dont worry :)

But I really did not like those suicidal attacks against your forts.

If anybody has given this new private beta version a spin let me know if you feel the AI is less suicidal now, without actually getting timid.

Best wishes,
Vic

I am just learning the game with a random scenario(s). Will the changes be in effect on my current save?

Michael

Just realized, I have the steam version...ohhh well. It twuz' a nice dream. I be waiting patiently for it to make it out of beta.

Tac2i -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/16/2016 11:48:04 PM)

Since the changes are to the AdvancedTacticsGold.exe file I believe the changes will affect your save game. Should cause no issues. The main thing is that the AI will be more careful about its attacks.

Haha, very funny :P

Those hockey players are engineers searching for landmines :P

Yes its fully backwards compatible.

Franciscus -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/17/2016 8:48:50 AM)

Hi, Vic

I just noticed that some of the classic_ww2 scenarios do not load in 2.25 ATG version.

For example, Russia41 and Russia42, which work with setup release 2.00c, and latest official 2.21s, but crash on loading with the latest exe. It seems map related.

On the other hand netherlands40 do not load either with 2.21: several png files seem to be missing.

Regards

Vic -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/17/2016 9:08:13 AM)

Hi Franciscus!

Thanks for catching that one.
Uploaded v225b that fixes it.

Netherlands40 missing files is long standing issue. Will aim to fix it with the public version of this beta!

best wishes,
Vic

Franciscus -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/17/2016 10:07:26 AM)

That was quick !!

Thank you [&o]

+1 (my favorite or at least most played game)!

Thanks Vic!

Ormand -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/21/2016 9:44:02 AM)

I have to add my thanks. This game is my favorite little obsession.

Also, my 4Seasons-Models mod is compatible with this version as Vic included all the extra functions in version.

Graybullet -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (12/23/2016 1:56:30 PM)

Hi Vic, thank you so much for this wonderful update! I really love the updated AI and new Gfx speed.

Has this update improved the AI, making it more difficult to defeat?

Graybullet -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (1/16/2017 9:33:35 PM)

Hi Vic, I have played this new beta version for almost a month and I think the new AI really makes less suicide attacks and attacks when there is a weak point on my frontline. Thanks a lot for this new update!

GaryChildress -> RE: Surprise New Private Beta ATG v2.25 (1/31/2017 1:01:22 AM)

Cool! Thanks for the latest update, Vic. I don't play as much as I used to but I keep finding myself coming back for "just one more go". Definitely a wargaming classic.
