DarkstarOne -> Patch ETA (12/14/2016 10:37:42 PM)

Game's been out a month...

DarkstarOne -> RE: Patch ETA (12/16/2016 10:24:17 PM)

BUMP

elmo3 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/16/2016 10:49:46 PM)

Soon...

IainMcNeil -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 9:21:05 AM)

Hi guys,

we've been hoping to release an update for the last 2 weeks but unfortunately it just hasn't happened. Hubert wasn't well and was working through and has just been diagnosed with pneumonia.

We've asked Hubert to stop trying to get anything done and take a break for Christmas and hopefully start the new year well and ready to update the game. We're sorry for the delay but really don't think Hubert pushing to try and deliver anything now makes sense for anyone.

We'll get a patch to you and multiplayer as soon as we can in the new year. Thanks for your understanding.

The Matrix & Fury Teams

Hartmann -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 9:39:24 AM)

Hubert should rest and take his time to get well. Pneumonia is still to be taken seriously in the 21st century - I almost died of it once because I didn't.

We can wait, the game is more playable than certain others after the umpteenth DLC with "free" patch ...

Patrat -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 10:54:07 AM)

I agree with Hartmann. Pneumonia is no joke and can kill you if you try to ignore it. Just look at Jim Henson.

demyansk -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 12:11:35 PM)

Hope he gets better soon, patches can always wait

sapper32 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 12:41:03 PM)

Yes agree patch can wait hope Hubert gets well soon we can look forward to the patch in the New Year

Templer_12 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 2:56:45 PM)

Hubert should patch his health first.
Get well.

RussW -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 3:29:16 PM)

For sure Hubert needs to take care of himself,,This here is just a game and still good to play

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 3:31:29 PM)

Development team please take time off for the holidays and enjoy your families. We have plenty to do with the new SC3 and can certainly wait.

Get well Hubert [sm=innocent0001.gif]

xwormwood -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 5:00:28 PM)

All the best wishes, Hubert!

TheGreatRadish -> RE: Patch ETA (12/19/2016 5:08:16 PM)

Sorry to hear Hubert has been unwell, hope he's on the mend.

rjh1971 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/21/2016 1:33:48 PM)

Wishing you all the best and a quick recovery Hubert. Take care and merry Christmas to you and all SC players.

Hubert Cater -> RE: Patch ETA (12/21/2016 1:48:26 PM)

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and the good news is that I'm finally feeling a lot better. [:)]

Months of late nights wrapping up this game must have finally caught up with me, and taking the time this week to officially rest and recuperate has already done wonders on my end.

I look forward to the holidays and spending some time with the family and rest assured we'll finish up what we started with SC3 as soon as the new year rolls around.

I also wanted to wish everyone, on behalf of Bill and myself, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year as well and to thank everyone for their overall support. It really has meant a lot to us and we really appreciate it [:)]

Get well and have a great festive season Hubert, and thanks for the hours of fun with the game already, SC2 was ace but this is a whole new level of awesome [&o].

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/21/2016 7:24:36 PM)

Glad to hear you are feeling better Hubert. I also have not been feeling well, so I have taken off from work the rest of this week and beginning of next week. I also have told my family that I have been called out of town on business, so I don't have to waste Christmas time with family stuff. Now I have plenty of time to relax and enjoy playing SC3 [;)]

James Taylor -> RE: Patch ETA (12/22/2016 1:36:50 AM)

Hubert, this is no time to be messing around with an illness like pneumonia. A diagnosis like this can lead to all types of complications.

Belay that SC3, that is a SeaMonkey order![;)]

You owe us nothing, we'll discuss this next year. Now get the Hell WELL![:)]

Hubert, I am so glad you are feeling better. Please do us all a great favor and do no work until you are completely well.

Rest, enjoy the holidays, and know that so many of us deeply respect and admire you, and are wishing with all our hearts that you recover completely.

I wish you and your family a very merry Christmas, and a happy, healthy new year.

Delta66 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/22/2016 4:19:44 PM)

I wish the dev get well soon.

Still, I'm surprised by the high number of glitches and occasional CTD, the game is playable though, but overall this give a negative impression (especially for a 40€) game despite the good gameplay. It feels like a late Beta IMHO.

I know it is all situational, but I have yet to have a CTD. I do have a freezeup nearly every time I play at some point, but I have found that hitting escape unfreezes the system and allows me to continue. You might try that if the game freezes.

Delta66 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/22/2016 8:06:15 PM)

As I have said, I had occasional CTD. That is 3 CTD reaching September 42 in the 39 campaign. The game also seems a bit picky about multitasking and I had several Windows "Software not responding" errors, sometime recoverable sometime not.

The UI freezes, or hang ups are indeed frequent, and as you mention pressing "ESC" often solves the issue.
None of the "professional" reviews I have read, mention any technical issue !!

How much memory is your machine packing?? Those sound like some of the problems i had with 4 gb..The specs say 2 gb but that's minimum..A friend recently gave me 16 GB and it now runs silky smooth and I can hop out do something else and no crashes.I find I'm not getting any of the Software not responding errors anymore.

Delta66 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/23/2016 12:03:36 PM)

Hi RussW,

I have 16GB so I doubt it is a memory issue. Issues appear whether I have others apps running or just running SC III.

I have an older 4GB laptop, and I have similar issues on both machines, the game is playable on both computers.

RussW -> RE: Patch ETA (12/23/2016 12:50:01 PM)

Delta
Yep you surely got enough memory...I've never had it crash on me and mostly when the AI runs it's turn I minimize it and do something else...Always the hardest thing to figure out why one system locks up and one doesn't At least It's playable for you good
for learning until the patch comes out ,,Hopefully it will address the problem

It's really odd that so many come up. As a tester i've finished about 6 full games and like 20 partial ones sofar(updates were coming pretty fast early on). The only times I've had a CTD were during the early days when the UI got rebuild. I have faith in Hubert to fix them though as he has always done. [:)]

It's not odd IMO. Games are tested with certain hardware and OS configurations and as a result are mostly bug-free for people whose systems fall into the scope of these configurations. On the other hand, it is much more likely that bugs which only manifest themselves on systems with legit, but slightly different hard- and software configs go through testing unnoticed.

When I buy a new game on Steam, I usually either fall into one or the other of these categories, i.e. either the game runs fine for me with no performance issues at all (while I see others massively complaining), or I have severe problems myself while others tell me that "the game runs fine".

I only had 3 CTD with SC3 all in all, but I really do believe that there are indeed customers for whom the game is unplayable because of bugs which only show for certain configs.

Delta66 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/26/2016 1:32:27 PM)

- Here are the errors logs from a single 39-44 campaign, I'm not sure they are all hardware configs related:
quote:

[12/21/2016 5:21:35; 6.2.9200; 1920x1080x32(1); v1.00] FAILED(draw_background_to_buffer_dc):
[12/21/2016 5:27:39; 6.2.9200; 1920x1080x32(1); v1.00] FAILED(draw_unit_controlled_movement_path_to_buffer):
[12/22/2016 10:08:15; 6.2.9200; 1920x1080x32(1); v1.00] FAILED(draw_background_to_buffer_dc):
[12/22/2016 11:34:04; 6.2.9200; 1920x1080x32(1); v1.00] FAILED(draw_working_text_to_screen):
[12/23/2016 4:54:44; 6.2.9200; 1920x1080x32(1); v1.00] FAILED(initialize_weather_border_surface): Segmentation violation

- When you start the game try to load a single player saved game, if you mistakenly select the wrong game (the file requester doesn't list the most recent at the top of the list), then if yo press "ESC" on the second page "options" to attempt to go back,I have a CTD every time. a bit brutal IMHO.
BTW the files requester looks neat, but is not so convenient. No scrollbar!!! double clicking or pressing "Return" doesn't validate!.

- You can recover from UI freeze by pressing the "ESC" key. Still I'm puzzled how this error made it to the commercial release!
Some time I want to upgrade a tech or purchase a new unit and I have to repeat opening the corresponding tab and pressing "ESC" to unfreeze 3 or more times in a row before it works (maximum 5 attempts to get it to works properly).

- When you select a unit and click Upgrade, the pop-up window for upgrade works fine displaying "+1, +2, ..." as you click on the small yellow arrows.
But if you select Reinforce, the yellow arrows do not update the "+n" value in real time, the cost is properly updated for each step but the "+n" is either "0" or "Max".

- I also had some graphical glitches like part of the screen displayed in Zoom out mode while a smaller part of the display was still in medium zoom.i.e. two different levels of zoom at once. This one could be hardware related.

- Those are all technical issues, but after a single playthrough I also suspect some gameplay glitches or bugs.
In my game as the Axis, after swaying Finland and Spain to the axis side, I invested 5 chits in Turkey, which gives a 25%/turn chance of pro-axis status improvement. Yet from late 41 to January 44 Turkey stayed at 57%??? That makes a whole lot of turns and at 25%/turn I was very much surprised, to say the least, to have zero diplomacy status improvement. I wonder if an in game event Turkey becomes favorable to the Axis as Axis control Iraq somehow wrecked the regular process.

Similarly by the end of the game, the Axis were also dominant on seas, and I was surprised to still loose supply every turns to Allied raiders, as I was pretty sure the convoy route from Norway to Germany was cleared by my DDs. So I reloaded a saved game, set options to no FoW, and confirmed that there were no allied raiders on the route, still the penalty for raiders happened every turns. Here again, the game seems to keep in memory an allied raider on the route while the ships was actually destroyed or moved away ???

All in all, that's why I call it a late Beta, rather than a clean release. Disappointing, we'll see how things evolve.
Not talking about the promised MP feature (a significant omission) and just about what is in the first release.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Patch ETA (12/26/2016 3:02:24 PM)

On Turkey, the enemy may be throwing Diplomacy points at Turkey also, and this isn't reflected in the 25% that you see.

On the Convoys, I have noticed that late in the game the Allies will be able to raid the Norway convoy with air units in England. If this is the case, this can be thwarted by having friendly air units in range. See 5.9 bullet 4.

Sorry you are disappointed. [:(]
