Dirtnap86 -> Allied Advice: Finding Willis 'Ching' Lee (12/20/2016 1:13:26 AM)

I'm three months into a grand campaign and I cannot for the life of me find Ching Lee. I know he commanded Washington during the battles at Guadalcanal, do I wait for her to show up on map or is he available before she comes to the Pacific?

He came to the Pacific aboard the Washington. I don't recall him specifically in the game, but I'm about 90% sure he's there.

Interesting factoid about Willis Lee, he won 7 medals at the 1920 Olympics, 5 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze. All in shooting events. He also died of a heart attack in August 1945.

Bill

You may not have known - "Ching" was his nickname - I think because he wore round wire frame glasses and had slitted eyes that made him look oriental, and of course because Lee is a common Chinese name. He didn't seem to mind the nickname (unlike Halsey, who hated being called "Bull").

Admiral Lee ...

I knew about his nickname, but his initials in the DB would be his real name.

Yes he is in the game.

I have never seen him automatically assigned a command.

You will find him in the available list of admirals when you seek to assign one to replace the default commander assigned to a TF by the game engine.

He has likely been sitting in your pool waiting for you to assign him a command for some time.

Just a note on Willis "ching" Lee

he is listed in the DB as above with a delay of 420501.

His middle name was Augustus so it might be Willis A Lee or W A Lee in the DB.

I always look forward to Lee's arrival in the game. He gets command of good combat TFs that are going into harm's way.

Here's his stats in my current game. He's been in the thick of things in the Bay of Bengal, NoPac, CenPac, and the DEI.

Basically the best you get, except maybe for Halsey. Your Halsey must be assigned in this screenshot, mine never is [;)].

Arleigh Burke is pretty darn good as well!

Dirtnap86 -> RE: Allied Advice: Finding Willis 'Ching' Lee (12/20/2016 9:39:00 PM)

Actually he was called 'Ching' because he had a fascination with the Far East. It was given to him at Annapolis as a nickname by fellow midshipmen

Thanks for the help.
