CCIP-subsim -> RE: Loooong turn resolution times :( (12/25/2016 3:28:14 PM)

Honestly, I think you're taking a sort of strange approach to the game if you are avoiding looking at the turn resolutions - most of the useful info in game (and for me, most of the excitement) emerges during the resolutions. I do agree that it's less than realistic, but I think the whole point of it is to be able to get some feedback on what had occured and how the enemy is behaving, of which you get only hints after the fact. For me, the average turn resolution time even in BoB is 30+ minutes, sometimes well over an hour - and that's playing on the attacking side. Once I get around to properly playing BTR, I expect that'll go hout to an hour plus. I try to absorb as much detail as you can, and for me being able to visualize "what actually happened" each game day is where my enjoyment of the game comes from. By comparison, logs and debriefs feel like doing paperwork after that. IMO that's a good recipe to get tired of the game quickl,y and get focused on its technical shortcomings instead of being wrapped up in all the imagined drama in the virtual skies, but hey, if it works for you - to each their own way to play! But anyway, besides explosions, I also suggest: turning off weather, turning off night graphics, use windowed mode, and if that doesn't help - try turning on the "Use DirectDraw Software Emulation" option. For me that last option actually gained better performance (although I actually have every other option enabled rather than disabled).
