proflui -> Newbie question about changing HQ (12/27/2016 8:25:23 AM)

Have a quick beginner question. I am playing the campaign game and trying to change the HQ of some Australia unit from Australia Command(R) to I Australia Corp. so they can leave the country. I find out that cost of changing the HQ does not match what the screen stated. The cost is far below the cost listed. I am guessing it is because the Corp HQ is still under Australia Command(R). But the problem is I do not know the real cost until I am done changing the HQ. Is it possible for me to know the cost of change the HQ before I confirm it? Thanks!

It's a quarter of what you see within command.

If by this you mean how much does it cost to transfer a restricted Corp HQ and hence it's attached units I can't remember but I thought it was cheaper than transferring individual units but I may well be wrong. Someone else will help here.

It is one of the quirks of the game that if you buy out an Australian restricted unit to the Australian 1st corps you get to do so at a bargain price. (Took me a year of play before I realized it) However the actual cost does not show. Best way to get an approximate is to wait until you have a few PPs in the bank and then start to watch the unit from day to day. The 1st corps option will be greyed out until you have enough points and then it will be yellow when pass the magic number. Not exact because you add 50 PP per day but close enough so that you will have an idea.

No need to do this - if the HQ being transferred to is under the same Command HQ, the cost is 25% of full cost. You can see the difference when buying out air units but whoever programmed the LCU screens left out the display of reduced cost for "same Command HQ" transfers.

So if you transfer the Australian units to 1st Australian Corps HQ early in the game you get a double bonus - the discounted price plus the savings for buying units before they have all their devices. Then when you subsequently transfer 1st Australian Corp HQ to SWPAC or other Command HQ, you are only paying full PP price for the Corps HQ but the already attached Aussie units come along for free.

Some players consider this gamey, but I make an exception for only 1st Australian Corps because SWPAC was created the defend Australia and Papua/NG so there would be an affinity between Australian National HQ and SWPAC.
