ewwulf -> Windows 10 (1/2/2017 1:10:47 PM)

Is there any possibility of getting the battleground series, ACW, to work with Windows 10?

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 (1/2/2017 1:36:42 PM)

ewwulf -> RE: Windows 10 (1/23/2017 11:51:15 PM)

I recently downloaded the Battleground civil was game from Matrix.

Everything was going well until 2-3 days ago when I kept getting the message "cannot read battlefile."

The OS is Windows 10.

Many thanks.

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 (1/24/2017 5:39:08 AM)

it maybe or sounds like an update has altered something, as if i worked before, and now it doesn't, then something has been altered, to test this, uninstall the game, make sure the folder is empty and clean, and re install the game and updates and also the pre requisites files, all of them, eve if you didn't un-install them, doing this will hopefully get the game back to a workable state, then if it does work, you know the update did something it was't meant to do, it happens, no idea why either.

bott.2 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/5/2017 10:51:54 AM)

I downloaded JT's Battle Ground Civil War yesterday and as I begin to load a scenario, the game stops and the scenario does not open. I have Windows 10 and I went through the testing/administrator process that Zakblood put together but still the same result. My video card drivers are up to date (Geforce GXT 1060)
Any ideas?
Thanks

bc1328 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/5/2017 2:41:19 PM)

Hey Bott, exact same thing happened to me.

terminator -> RE: Windows 10 (7/5/2017 4:09:41 PM)

[image]local://upfiles/33508/8C884AB4259149F9B78FD1C1B73F0DB4.jpg[/image]

I have made a test with another computer with windows 7 , works perfectly !

bott.2 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/7/2017 8:14:39 PM)

bradclark and terminator,

Did either of you figure out a way to make the game work in windows 10?

Thanks

bc1328 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/7/2017 8:47:14 PM)

No I didn't. I'm wishing a fairy would come with a fix.

Brad

terminator -> RE: Windows 10 (7/9/2017 9:40:42 AM)

No, I did not succeed having tried everything. [:(]
The only solution that I found is to play on an old computer.
A remake of this already old game about 10 years would be welcome with an improvement of the graphics(zoom).

VPaulus -> RE: Windows 10 (7/10/2017 11:40:44 AM)

Have you updated Windows 10 to the Creators Edition?

If you have updated, please try the following:

Turn Off the Game Bar:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8637-turn-off-game-bar-windows-10-a.html

Turn Off the Game Mode
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/75936-turn-off-game-mode-windows-10-a.html

Disable Full-screen Optimizations:
Open the the game installation folder and find a file named "autorun.exe" and click with the right mouse button over this file.
Select in the dropdown menu "Properties". Click on the tab named "Compatibility".
Tick on "Disable Full-screen optimisations". Click "Apply" and "OK"

bott.2 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/10/2017 7:50:25 PM)

Unfortunately, I tried everything that you listed here but it still does not open.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for your reply.

Could there be a conflict with the opening videos causing it not to run?

That was my initial thought and have asked the players who reported the issue on the Helpdesk, to rename the "MatrixIntro.avi" file as "_MatrixIntro.avi". But unfortunately they said the issue persisted.
Anyway, you are welcome to try.

I still believe that it's related with the last Windows 10 update,as this issue only came out very recently.

bott.2 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/11/2017 1:04:34 PM)

FYI,renaming the MatrixIntro.avi file did not work for me either.
Thanks for your help.

VPaulus -> RE: Windows 10 (7/11/2017 2:39:26 PM)

I've tested in two different systems with the Windows 10 Creators update installed and unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce the issue.
Could it be related with how you have Windows UAC configured? I have my UAC disabled by default (I know I shouldn't, but...).

bott.2 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/11/2017 9:29:20 PM)

I disabled the UAC and still the game does not open. Bummer!! Thanks

VPaulus -> RE: Windows 10 (7/12/2017 11:14:42 PM)

I think this will be the final one...

Try to disable all background programs in case these are interfering with the normal running of the game.
You can do this by running msconfig and disabling all non-windows start-up programs and services.
Then once you have disabled all non-Microsoft services, please run the game and see if the issue persists.
If it does not, please then reopen msconfig and reenable those services, one by one, until you find the program causing the problem.

A tutorial on how to do this can be found below:
https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/shutting-down-background-applications

bc1328 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/13/2017 12:02:42 AM)

None of this worked on mine either.

Brad

BTW the tutorial for shutting down bg applications isn't posted anymore.

VPaulus -> RE: Windows 10 (7/14/2017 2:51:46 PM)

So what happens when you receive the message Loading Main Program?
Does it exit to the desktop?

zakblood -> RE: Windows 10 (7/14/2017 3:39:29 PM)

guide updated to latest windows 10 version the creators update, 2 installs, an upgrade to the creators update and a clean install, both worked as shown

http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=4072422&mpage=1&key=

a update from a previous version of windows shown, but can do the other if needed, only takes a few hours to setup and run

bott.2 -> RE: Windows 10 (7/14/2017 6:18:27 PM)

Once I choose a scenario, I click on play and nothing happens. It does not exit to the desk top or display an error message. Thanks.
