Hi All,

Which of these two games (Strategic Command WWII vs. War in the East)would you recommend based on the following:
- Strong and challenging AI
- Replay value - each play through where the AI reacts differently
- Overall fun and enjoyment

Thanks and Cheers.

If you're more detail oriented go for WITE, Strategic Command is fun and has a powerful editor but its less detailed a game. For example in WITE you know exactly how many and what type of vehicles/troops compose a unit, what they're fatigue level is, how many of them are damaged, etc. None of that exists in SCWW2, it just a generic number for the unit strength and a generic unit type.

Both games have nice editors but SCWW2's allows you to edit the map and create scripts to alter the AI and mechanics of the game, which WITE does not.

Personally I'd go for something you haven't mentioned Decisive Campaigns: Barbarossa

How ever out of the two for me it has to be GGWITE. Though really totally different type of wargames that appeal to different wargamers or different moods.

I would say it's a question of time. Do you have the available time to play WITE?

Note that I only have SC3 but I am really enjoying it. And I'm not wasting months learning the game. I would also second the DC:Barbarossa if you haven't already got it.

WITE would be my pick as well hands down. More for the money overall.

WitE turns do not take a lot of time. Not my experience (AI and PBEM).

How many hours do you spend per turn?

"Hours"? 20/30/40 minutes is enough [:)] If you start looking - every turn - at all your frontline units + all your strategic reserves in the rear + air units, you could be hours and hours and then more hours, indeed.

Fortunately you don't need to do that (sometimes I do it for fun though: I love checking my Guards Rifle Corps, the Guards Tank Corps [8D]). The Commander's Report quickly gives you all the data you are looking for (low morale, depleted units etc).

Thank you all for your input.

Putting aside the levels of details and length of turns, how would you all rate the strength of AI for these three games? I don't mind complexity if the AI is challenging and can lead to fun and thought provoking moments with variety in replayability.

WitE
SCWWii
D.C. Barbarossa

I'd say all three have a decent AI.

A game like Command Ops has a stand out AI. You can download Command Ops 2 with three scenarios for free from LockNLoad..try it:)

WITE is hardcore. SC3 is beer n pretzels.

ClipSolo -> RE: Which of these two games? (1/11/2017 9:10:31 PM)

As WitE let's you decide how detailed you want your turns to be, I'd say that's better for AI/solo game. Strategic Command seems more suited for PBEM/against a friend.

Haven't really tried SC yet, basing my thoughts on Youtube on that one.
