jecunningham -> planes stuck in Aden (1/12/2017 12:54:19 AM)

I've read the manual, perused the forums, tried the search -- no luck.
I have many airplane groups in Aden. Moved a bunch of AKV type ships there. Formed an Air Transport TF with those ships. Docked the TF. Go to the airplane group, click on Load to Docked Ship. Shows me a screen indicating there are no available ships.

Have tried every combo I can think of.

Help a newbie please, thanks!

As a reward -- check out "The West Point Atlas of War, World War II: The Pacific " book. Absolutely awesome reference for enjoying this simulation.

Choose Load troops from the task force window and check HQ is not restricted. I went to create the example below. Note that one part of 13th Sentai cannot embark due to restricted HQ.

Seriously? just Load Troops. LOL

So now I'm guessing the other option is to load a search plane onto Cruiser or something like that.

Thanks very much for the quick response!

Load to ship is used to load search aircraft to BB'S and CA's as you said and to move CV capable and trained aircraft to Carriers....GP

It isn't a 'load' option you're seeing in the air unit interface it is a 'transfer' option.

An air unit can only 'transfer' to s ship unit with a 'capacity' for aircraft.

Completely different from 'loading' aircraft onto a ship without an aircraft capacity.

You do not need AKVs. You can load air units on an AK type ship as long as the HQ is not restricted. Just set up a transport TF. Now as said above you must also check to see if the HQ is not restricted. If I recall many restricted air units can move from the US to Aden but not from Aden to India unless the are bought out. If this fails then post screen shots of the units in question.

The caveat being loading air units on to AKs rather than AKVs means that the aircraft will be disassembled for transport and re-assembled on arrival, whereas AKVs are able to drop the aircraft off at their destination fully assembled and ready to fly.

Presuming they were ready to fly when they were loaded.

If you transfer a squadron by rail form the EC to San Fran to ship it out its a waste of time to load it aboard an AKV because the planes are all disabled.

Might just as well use an xAK at that point and use the airplane mechanics at the destination to reassemble them.
