twinkypillow -> Disputed Colonies and Energy Fuel and Give Base.. (1/17/2017 3:03:43 AM)

Ok here are some good ones...

1. I put an energy to fuel converter on my main large spaceport.. it doens't seem to do anything. I only notice fuel being created when I build a completely separate Starbase anywhere else in space with Cargo space..

what gives with the energy to fuel converters not working on spaceports? is it because I only have a couple of cargo bays on my space ports and like 10 on my StarPorts?

2. helping my ally's against the Shakturi, What happens when I give my Spaceport on top of my colony to my ally? do they get all the resources? It's still my colony but with now-their spaceport on my colony.

What other things can I give to my ally's to help them? Should I build a huge spaceport in the middle of an asteroid and have my freighters fill it up and then just give it to my ally?

is that how it works?

3. How do you get the "disputed colony" to show up in the Negotiate a trade window?

I want to capture a colony -lets say in the area in the picture- and then give it to my ally.. to help them.

Basically I rarely see the disputed colony option in the Trade window, I know how it works, but what triggers it to show up? because as you can see in the picture, it's in my ally's territory.. I want to capture Argos and give it to my ally (give the argos colony to the blue color guys..)

I see disputed bases (mining) all the time.. but I don't see disputed colonies.

Bingeling -> RE: Disputed Colonies and Energy Fuel and Give Base.. (1/17/2017 2:56:48 PM)

I have never had advanced enough tech to try fuel converters...

2: Spaceports at colonies do not have their own cargo, they share it with the colony. So I assume all that you achieve is to send some maintenance cost to the ally you want to help.

3: I do not think the term "disputed colony" exists. A base can be disputed because it is in the territory of another empire. But the territory itself is created by the colony, so the colony can not be outside your territory. At least in old versions, very fresh colonies in the system of a large colony would be kind of disputed, though, but today I think all that you will see is that the "ownership" of planets/moons in the system change depending on the way the planetary bodies are organized at the time. And I assume it is still so that a very inferior colony in a disputed system would be prone to switch ownership back to the original owner.

I don't know how you can reliably hand the colony to your ally. If you find the rule for who takes ownership, you could possibly assist in his invasion. And you can of course clear all defenses around the colonies.

It makes fuel so it goes in the tanks.
Spaceports don't need cargo bays. As Bingeling said it's insta-share with the colony.
You cannot give away a colony, BUT if you really want to use the editor.

You can still get 'disputed colonies' which can be exchanged in the Diplomacy menu when a very small colony belonging to one empire is in the same system as a much larger colony belonging to another empire. This mostly only happens when you invade something, though on occasion it may happen if an unhappy colony rebels and joins another empire.

Fuel produced by an Energy to Fuel Converter goes into the cargo bays, not into the fuel cells. Things which can refuel themselves (i.e. resupply ships and stations) can move fuel generated by an Energy to Fuel Converter from the cargo bay to the fuel cells; things which cannot refuel themselves (i.e. most types of ships) cannot.

Energy to Fuel Converters definitely work when added to spaceports built over colonies. I ran a test game using a pre-warp empire which had been given Energy to Fuel Converters using the game editor, built a spaceport with an Energy to Fuel Converter over the homeworld, and watched the fuel stockpile on the homeworld go up over time despite the nonexistence of any gas mines, gas mining ships, or freighter traffic.

Just wondering. Does giving the base actually give your ally access to the resources on it?

I believe so, but stations built over colonies generally aren't going to have much in the cargo hold as they tend to transfer all of the resources to the colony, so if you were to give a space port to another empire they'd probably have to ship in resources before it became useful.
